Plugins don't appear after create device

Hi people,

I’m trying to install plugins and considering the instructions it should be really easy. However, the plugins don’t appear when I’ve created a device. I’ve tried two plugins now and I have run out of ideas.

Some details:

The first plugin I’ve tried is the SND plugin: http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,6656.0.html
Now I’m trying the Weather plugin: http://code.mios.com/trac/mios_weather/wiki/Installation-UI4

I follow the instructions that were roughly the same for both plugins apart from the moment of restart. All is well while uploading the files, all 4 files appear in the LUUP-files list. Subsequently, I try to create the device, which isn’t very complicated according to the description. I enter the name of the D_xxxx.xml file into the UpnpDevFilename field and set a Description. I mind the caps and such. Then I click the create device button, which doesn’t give any feedback, but I’m certain I clicked it. Then I close the Mios Developers panel and Save and Reboot and Save some more… But at no point I see any sign of a new device appearing on the Dashboard.

It should be on the Dashboard right? Is there any setting that could explain this behavior? I don’t have a clue anymore. It should just work this way according to three installation instructions that I’ve read. ???

Are you using UI4 or UI5? Which firmware version on which vera? What browser are you using?

Did you try clearing the browser cache and then reloading the user interface?

Sorry I forgot to mention that.

Firmware: 1.1.1245
UI: 4
Browsers: Safari and FireFox on Mac OS X

I’m no longer on UI4, but I have a recollection that you get feedback when you click the “Create Device” button. I thought that an alert popped up that you had to dismiss. Can any UI4 people confirm or deny?

I’ve made progress…

I used IE9 on windows 7 and the device appeared right away. I did get feedback after pressing the create device button. I didn’t try this before because it was mentioned in the instructions not to use IE.

Conclusion: creating a device on Mac OS X is broken in UI4 on at least FireFox and Safari. Is there any chance that MCV reads this and looks into the issue? Or should I register the problem somewhere?

Thanks for the attempts to help!

FWIW Creating devices on Mac OSX UI5 works fine on all browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari).

Yeah, Firefox on OSX is my everyday platform and I never encountered this oddity.

@Futzle it could be recently broken or an isolated oddity.

I tried an older MacBook which had older software and I had no problem:

Broken: FireFox 9.0.1 and Safari 5.1.3 on OS X 10.7.3
Not broken: Safari 5.1.1 on OS X 10.7.2

Maybe the recent update to OS X 10.7.3 caused the problem.

@aschwalb: I’ll try UI5 once I’ve figured out how to reinstall a working configuration on UI4. I want to wait until UI5 matures a bit.
