Plugin: Razberry support for openLuup/ALTUI

I added a display to the MiniMote (SceneController) panel (without needing to change the .json file) to show last scene triggered and trigger time… Always wanted to do that and now it’s easy when it’s being handled by openLuup.

I’ll do exactly that, I’d say the unit is probably 30 feet at most away. I can easily move the PI into that room and see if it’ll exclude. I’ve tried at least 3-4x at the current distance and the Yale just act’s like I was wasting it’s time… I’ll give it a try in the morning.

Much appreciated,
CN

In order to get the Yale lock excluded from you Z-Stick (any kind) what has worked for me is get the lock or the stick as close as possible (literally together) then set the controller in to exclude more, then enter your mater pin code, then press 7, then press 3. If it does not get excluded (by a beep confirmation) try again and again.

It has work for me recently.[/quote]

This post is for those with the Aeotec Smart Switch 6 and RaZberry:

When including within z-way, it appears we have to perform a simple hack as explained here to remove the MultiLevelSwitch command (dimmer module) as this device doesn’t actually control the load.

This one has been a pain but I think it’s finally stable. There were 2 devices in close proximity and apparently z-way was able to sort it out. Re-interviewed from the office and it seems very snappy now. Let’s see how long it holds…

I attempted to include some Leviton scene capable switches (to extend the mesh) which appear on the pepper1 database, however I failed miserably ??? I did some searching on the z-way forum and read through the pairing instructions carefully and I’ll see if I can resolve the issues tonight and report back what worked/didn’t work. I’ll need to build a really long cable to see if I can get the RaZberry as close as possible to the device (ugh). Here are the exact switches:

Leviton VRS15-1LZ Vizia RF + 15A
Leviton VRMX1-1LZ 1000W

Important: You must be within inches of this device to include. First push the top of the switch (air gap), wait 5 seconds then push the top back in place while keeping the button pressed (do not release). The light will turn amber then green when paired.

Edit: This device will also display, device seems to be dead. This is to be expected though.

And the Z-way log: You can see code ‘82’ which is considered the hail (per the URL’s above).

Just (Re) Added: Yale (Assa Abloy) Real Living Touch Screen Level Lock.
Important: Another device whereby you have to be 1-2" max away from the device in order to exclude. It took me approximately three attempts to exclude. Include only took 1 attempt. I kept the controller in close proximity for 3 minutes (until z-wave light ceased to show activity).

I’ll continue to update this thread as I learn more about why the controller indicates the device appears to be dead. Still cannot control the lock whatsoever.

Edit [1]: I ended up posting in the Z-way forum. This isn’t obvious to me how to correct considering there are other devices (mains) in close (very close) proximity to the lock. I saw this same behavior exhibited in my Schlage lock. Operating the lock locally appears to send a packet of data to the controller but I’m not sure I understand what the z-way logs are indicating (or not). Will continue to update IF a solution presents itself.

Device [18]

Just a bit of humor for the day. I found a solid solution to maintaining (Device appears to be dead) communication with my Yale. Obviously either my lock has a bad radio or something within close proximity is interfering as I’m now having issues with my Fortrezz Mimolite which is in that closet - just inches away from z-way controller.

Interesting post by a z-way user experiencing high interference on a Raspberry Pi2 (Which I’m using in test). Who knows, this might help someone else here. I have a lot of 3’s currently in use so I may have to move one into test. https://forum.z-wave.me/viewtopic.php?f=3422&t=22453&p=59519&hilit=interference#p59519

We have noticed that RaZ works with RPi 2 worse than with old RPi B. So, we are planning a redesign. Anyway, check that there are no metallic parts around RPi, some other bojects around. Also deal with "optical length", not metric length, since RF sees walls as thicker than they are due to attenuation.

So it was time to perform some maintenance on the z-way. Firmware and bootloader are at the latest available versions. For those wanting to upgrade from 2.2.x to the latest, simply perform the following from the CLI. Also note that this will set the frequency to ‘EU’ so make sure (within /expert) to adjust properly ( Network > Control > Operating frequency Change ).

wget -q -O - razberry.z-wave.me/install/v2.2.4-rc1 | sudo bash

I’ll report back in the morning on how things are looking…

CN

Just added: GE/Jasco in-wall dimmer (routing capable).

Device [19]

Element ID: ZWayVDev_zway_19-0-38

Just added: GE/12730 ‘Smart’ Fan Control. Yes, a glorified dimmer switch GE calls a Smart Fan controller. Hmm… OK

Device [23]

Element ID: ZWayVDev_zway_23-0-38

And a quick update. As you can see, I’ve added additional devices to assist in expanding the mesh. Keep in mind that every device is well within 20-30 feet of each other on the same grade. My first observations are this.

[1] GE/Jasco dimmers are solid products. Unpair/pair every time. No issues whatsoever and z-way apparently communicates very well with them.
[2] Leviton is such a pain in … Touch the paddles and the controller see’s them every time. Try to control from z-way, nope… ‘Device appears dead’.
[3] Yale lock, see item #2.

Attaching my current routing table.

Wow. I had twice that many devices on Z-Way and never had that issue. Always had pretty good routing tables…

Hi Mike,

I’ve seen your posts on the z-way forum. You have a whole lot more experience with this product than any of us so any tricks or advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated. These tests are very isolated based on distance and types of products. I’ve seen others post their routes and it makes mine look really awful ! I’m ashamed… SO, I’m running the latest 2.2.4 (release candidate) and it seems to have greatly improved my network, although it also has a quirky reorganization function which I’m not sure is doing me any favors. I’m posting on the z-way forum but they appear greatly under staffed. PoltoS seems a great asset to that community but obviously unable to answer every question. Makes progress slow when working towards solutions.

I just received my backup z-way board this evening, thinking it would be a great test for the dipole antenna mod I’ve seen on the forum.

CN

And a few photos of the z-way GPIO board.
