Please help this rookie...

Hi guys - Im new to the MCV world so bear with me…

I purchased a Veralite and several HA05 screw in modules. I am having an issue getting them to pair. I log into the vera and go to add device. I follow the on screen instructions and select option 1 to pair. As directed by the onscreen instructions I hit the program (on/off) button on the ha05 and then click Next on the vera… Shortly thereafter I get a message indicating "I dont see that you added any new devices. Ive tried this with several different HA05 devices thinking that one may be defective. Ive also tried resetting and then even factory resetting the vera to no avail.

I dont know if I am doing something wrong or if something may be wrong with my vera.

Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Getting the first “obvious” questions out of the way.

Do both devices have power when you’re doing this?
Is the screw-in module both screwed into a lamp and powered on?

If so, check the documentation for the lamp module, it may provide some instructions on how to read the device for inclusion.

keep me posted,

Mackenzie

Try the Advanced Z-Wave Devices
Try to include 1 device with Full Power

If that does not work then you will need to get your Vera closer to the device to add it.

Both the Vera and the lamp has power. The Vera was actually sitting on top the lamp when i tried. Im going to try the “advanced add” when I get home tonight.

You might also exclude first than include.

A new device should always come in an excluded state … but maybe yours was used for QA purposes and it was included in a test system.

If an existing device in your network gets a brain fart … you have to do this as well. I seem to have to do this to about 1 device a year.

No dice. Can someone who has a ha-05 outline the process they go through when pairing it? Maybe Im doing something wrong?

I was on the phone today with MCV support who couldnt get my HA05s to pair either. I did get all of my other devices to pair. Odd.

I have a Vera 2 (not a Vera Lite) and I’ve got to admit that I’ve never found software includes to be reliable. I’ve always found hardware includes to be reliable though (that is, using the buttons on the Vera unit instead of the UI). Building on what others have suggested, I’d advise the following:

[ol][li]Set the Vera unit into exclude mode (via the hardware button on the top)[/li]
[li]Press the button on the HA-05 to exclude it.[/li]
[li]Reboot the Vera Lite.[/li]
[li]Set the Vera unit into include mode (via the hardware button on the top)[/li]
[li]Press the button on the HA-05 to include it.[/li][/ol]

Have a look at this too, if you haven’t already:

Good luck!
