I can view and control the camera remotely, but I would like to use the camera’s internal sensors to take a picture and notify me. When I go to the UI4 camera Setup Tab, I am presented with a list of installed external Z-wave sensors that can be selected to trigger the camera, but the camera’s internal motion, light, and audio sensors are not listed.
Is there any way to access these sensors through UI4?
That would be a negative Kaptdan. The camera is not a Z-Wave device as far as the motion sensor. I had to buy extra sensors (ZIR-000) for that function.
I am not sure it is actually true to say you can’t use the sensors in UI4.
I don’t own one of these devices, but there is documentation on the web that indicates that the camera can be communicated with using HTTP, in particular a GET and the state of the sensors can be retrieved in that way. A creative Vera user could write a plugin (much like the one that gets the weather from Google) and that plugin could send HTTP requests to the camera on a frequent basis to check on the state of the sensors and that information could be shown as a device in much the same way that Google weather information shows up as a temperature sensor even though it isn’t a z-Wave device either.
Of course the problem is that you probably wouldn’t want your Vera sending queries to the camera every few seconds, so there might be a bit of latency involved, but I can’t see any reason why it isn’t possible.
