openLuup: Turn-key Images & Linux (Aptitude) Guide

Not a problem…

Absolutely… The only issue with OVB images is expanding the disk to your desired size. I have a document (somewhere) that explains how but I’ve never done it.

Thanks… would appreciate it… I have wasted days trying to get this running myself

@Bucko

Haven’t forgotten about you… In fact, Ameridroid has intentionally forgotten about me… I’m going to send them (yet again) another email requesting a replacement SD adapter. Just wanted to keep you in the loop…
Thank you CudaNet. I’m standing by…

openLuup/Oracle Virtualbox image is complete, I just need to test portability and I’ll release it shortly if all looks good. No instructions needed for this one, simply load the clone.

[1] 8GB disk, 1GB memory and 1 processor.
[2] Hostname = openLuup
[3] user = test, password = openluup
[4] root = openluup
[5] Weaved is installed but must be initiated from the CLI. Specifically /home/test/weaved/weaved_software
[6] Execute weaved installation from the above directory ./installer.sh
[7] Answer no to ‘ia32-libs’ (it wants to install this). I’ve already loaded other libraries which contain this…
[8] Archive file is 623MB, not too bad…

Edit: Had to modify the shell script as it wants to call sudo all over the place. This causes issues so I’ve updated the instructions above for Weaved installation.

Wasn’t sure if you still needed this … Sweet, once I post the file (possibly tonight) I’ll update this thread. Any feedback is greatly appreciated…

@Bucko,

I FINALLY have a tracking number on the eMMC replacement adapter. I’m done with this company so I’m hoping this one works… Else, I’m all out of solutions.

Very strange you are having such a problem just getting the adapter replaced. Is this from Ameridroid? They didn’t give me this much trouble. I hope you get it soon.

Yes, Ameridroid. After all it was initially a free adapter. They ignored numerous requests. I have a tracking number so I expect it to be here in 2-3 days.

Found some minor issues with the Oracle virtual image, actually - Weaved. Weaved has a lot of scripts and I believe I found the offender. Just want to make sure this works before I release it. Should have this resolved in the morning.

Issues appear to be resolved… Modified

./weaved/installer.sh (original problem)
./weaved/weaved_software/launchweaved.sh (latest problem, caused issues for all new services added to Debian).

Uploading the image now and will post a URL shortly…
Edit: URL added and ready for download…

Great. Thanks

@Bucko,

I received my replacement sd card adapter this evening.
Edit: Just tried on the USB 3.0 and it seems like it’s working… I’ll report back if I’m able to successfully write an image.
Edit: Works 100%… Loaded image to eMMC using sd adapter (#2) and modified version of Win32DiskImager (hardkernel Win32DiskImager). The mounted eMMC to odroid…

Wow, 1200+ days online… Very true when running openLuup/AltUI but not applicable here… I need to check into why that was…

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on

Good for you! Im glad you got it working. SO, that means I am doing something completly wrong because I am getting the same error. My XU starts booting and hangs at 12 sec last line "renamed network interface eth0 to eth1

This is what I did.

DL’d your file v7_032216_odrobian.
DL’d win32diskimager2-binary.
Used 7-zip to extract your file image.
Ran win32 Diskmager2 and wrote to my emmc with the Trandsend adaptor. Nothing errored out.
Pop my emmc onto my XU4 and tried to boot it.
That’s it. Am I missing something? AM I indeed using the correct image file?

rebooted twice and it stops at the same place.

I’ve successfully written several images to my emmc before, so I don;t think that is an issue with mine.

Your process looks perfect and you’re using the correct file, the only difference I see is I’m using WinRar, not 7zip but I can’t imagine that’s it.
I’ll re-test by downloading the file and unzipping using 7zip…

I’m seriously at a loss here… Worked fine using DL (rar) and 7zip.

@Bucko, have you tried to ping the address assigned to the Odroid once it boots ? Better yet, go straight to the URL (http://{yourIPaddress}:3480) to see if openLuup/AltUI is indeed running ?

@CudaNet It has no net connection. Cannot ping it as the net is not connected-no green led. Check out the last 4 lines, especially the 4th from the end. And why is it renaming my network?? I see yours does not do that eth0 to eth1.

Hmm, I see that 14 images have been downloaded between both Odrobian and Jessie from 3 different countries. Can those who are using these Odroid images please comment if you’ve encountered problems writing the image to an eMMC or SD for your device. I need to find out why this is happening …

@bucko,

Have you tried to unplug the Ethernet cable and see if it gets any further on a boot. I’m at a loss here so we have to try and isolate the root cause.

Edit: With the Ethernet unplugged and freshly booted, hit [enter] and see if we can do anything within the console. I see they have a new image available, I need to research and see if there’s something wrong with the device manager (udev) on previous versions.

@CudaNet
So far I reformatted emmc to exFat and reimaged. Then booted with ethernet unplugged. Even took off my XU battery. NO joy

IF I unplug the kybd and wireless mouse, plug it back in, the XU responds with a few more lines reconizing the devices are plugged in ok. So it’s alive to some extent. The reset button on the XU is dead. And I have the XU blue LED blinking 2 rapid flashes every 1 sec.

So far that’s where I’m at.

The line about Volume was not properly unmounted is curious to me. Have any ideas why that is?

EDIT: I just reimaged the emmc again, this time I used WinDisk manager 0.9.5 which also has a verify button. I verified the image write which is ok. Now on XU reboot the " Volume was not properly unmounted" is gone, but it still stops at the last line “Received request to flush runtime journal from PID 1”
