On / off for hot water cylinder (immersion)

I need a method of controlling a 3kw hot water cylinder remotely, simple on/off. Can I use the Secure SSR302 or something similar?

I’m in the UK and I want the solution as simple as possible.

You can’t use the Secure SSR302 as this is a heating controller which connects to boiler controls. It cannot switch anything like 3kW.
You could consider something like the Aeon Labs Heavy Duty Switch which can switch over 9kW and is a double pole switch. See www.vesternet.com for details. From the photos it would probably connect into the cable from the wall switch to the cylinder.
Most other modules are only up to 2.5kW and are single pole. For a cylinder heater I would not consider anything less than double pole switching.

The only other option I can suggest is a standard z-wave switch controlling a contactor which feeds the heater. This could be cheaper but nowhere near so neat.

Thanks, I was considering the heavy duty switch, it just looked overkill.

For a 3kW immersion you can’t really get overkill.
It works out at twice the price of a simple light switch so it’s actually not that bad.
