Hello,
Wasn’t sure where to ask this but thought I would give it a go here, I know aircon’s can be notoriously hard to get correct control with IR but thought someone might have some codes already for this type of AC.
I have tried “learning” via my Broadlink and can get aircon to turn on but not off. Have ordered a iTach also, so have this option if it will work better.
I have a Remotec A/C to IR ZWave device but I have not added that to my network as I currently have all ZWave Plus items and would like my network to remain all ZWave plus.
Weird that you can’t get it to turn off. Are you using a Plug In or e-Control?
If it’s a Plug In then did you “learn” the Off control? Really need more information on what you are using to control it.
thanks for the response zedrally, fellow Aus user I assume from your signature?
Yes I should have included more information, just thought I would throw the line out there initially to see if anyone even was using an Olimipia being the portable AirCons are not as common as the inbuilt split systems.
Ok so using the Broadlink Plugin similar to what you displayed in the screenshot I believe. I do a learn of the remote and then turn the A/C on via the remote it comes with. The code for both on and off come back as the same code. From what I have read around the place AirCon IR is a pain due to the fact it often sends more then just the command it sends status such as fan speed, temperature etc all at once :o
I have also tested with a generic remote I use for Kodi that can learn IR also… it will learn IR for things like TV but it doesn’t want a bar of the IR for the aircon as it will not turn the unit on or off even after learning from the other remote.
This is why i thought if I could chase down someone that may have already gone through the process I could possibly set up the codes manually ;D
It learn’s the OFF as it’s a different code.
If it helps, I use the Plug In to learn both ON & OFF codes, also a couple of different ones for temperature, I’m unsure if this is what you are doing?
The procedure I used was to set up Broadlink and e-Control, then the APP on Vera.
Once you have the device “included” into e-Control you should then be able to transfer the device file to the Vera APP and “Learn” codes.
Once setup you can learn either ON or OFF commands by pointing the remote at the Broadlink unit which will start flashing a blue Orange LED after clicking the Learn IR button and a successful handshake.
The codes should be different otherwise it’s not learning.
If you don’t get the IR Off code then you could look into the the Vera Log, it might point to the problem.
Ok that sounds roughly like what I was doing apart from the device file side of things. It definitely seems like it is “learning” as the code it learns for say the TV and the AirCon are different. The on and off button are the same button and that is why it seems to make sense that the code is the same but possibly its not learning the entire code or something?
The code for on will turn the AirCon on, it just doesn’t seem to work for off. The fact the the IR learning remote also struggles with the IR codes for the aircon seems to point me in the direction of something funky about the IR codes.
I will give it another spin going through the steps you suggested and I will also see what the iTach Wifi learns as codes when it arrives later in the week.
The codes can’t be the same see below for ON & OFF. Same Button for ON & OFF but different codes. (notice the last few digits)
I’m assuming you are using a RMPro, when the Vera APP is in the learning mode, an Orange LED appears when it learns the code. You may not be holding the OFF button for long enough.
Yep assumed some how it is missing some element of the code. I did experiment with the length of holding it down but it didn’t make any difference and considering the amount of time it was taking to learn the on code and that worked it shouldn’t take much longer to learn an almost identical off code. Sounds like I need to have another play, I will report back after my next effort!
