Is there an easy way to integrate the wired sensors into Vera? Just Front and back door. motion and smoke detector.
Brinks don’t make an alarm panel, its made by someone else. We need to know the model of the panel. Find the metal box where the battery backup and all the wires go to, open the door and find the info on the inside of the door on the board its self.
If its a panel that is support by vera then you’ll just need an adaptor. If it’s not a supported board then you’ll have no luck.
With the info given so far that’s impossible to tell.
Other part of your question. If you are not using the alarm and want to just eliminate the use of it then you can disconnect the wires from the panel and tie them into several z-wave sensors. But i’m not sure if that’s what your looking for.
Post back more info for more help.
I’m new to Vera but this weekend I wired my wired alarm system to a mysensors node and I have it working successfully with Vera. I do not have the alarm control unit (brain) anymore, but I can’t see why you couldn’t do the same and just tap each door/window/smoke switch and wire that into the mysensors node and still have the same functionality with the alarm panel and the Vera integration through Mysensors.
I don’t think the common from two different sources can be shared so easily. You have a common and a return (two wires) for each sensor the main alarm board sends the common out and checks the return, you mysensors node will do the same. I’m not sure how or what will be effected if your running the common from both at the same time.
But since the OP never posted back we don;t know what he really wants anyways and may have dropped it all together.
Sorry, I have been busy. I looked at the panel and didn’t see any markings on the board. I was going to try to get some good pics this weekend, My desire is to just have the sensors read into my Vera. I have never used mysensors, would it be easier to use a couple MIMOlites instead if my board is not compatible?
You might consider getting a compatible system and hooking the sensors to that system. You could then blend your security system to the vera via whatever automation module or interface the security system has. There are a couple of newer systems that work well with vera. I use this method, with a concord 4 and serial bus automation module. I would recommend getting a newer, easier to configure security system.
Not sure about the mimo’s. Might be cheaper depending on how many you would need for your sensors.
Visit www.diysecurityforum.com with some basic information from your panel, and you’ll likely be able to find a takeover procedure to get you to the point that you may be able to integrate your existing sensors with Vera.
DO NOT USE MIMO’s!
Few things. Mimo’s are a better output relay then a sensor altho it has both.
Price is higher then you need.
You can use a z-wave door/window sensor that has a 2 wire input. You may not know but most if not all door or window sensor have an option to wire an external sensor to it.
