I received a gift from a friend, one alarm system, the alarm system was installed in an old storage room and it was not use anymore.
The alarm system was disarmed when we uninstalled it. We didn?t know the person who installed the alarm system.
We have only the user code which is 3641,
I want to install the alarm system at my vacation house, but the problem is that I don?t know the code for program mode.
I tried to Press *, 8. The five function LEDs (Stay, Chime, Exit, Bypass, and Cancel) begin flashing , Enter the go to program code (default 9, 7, 1, 3). If the go to program code entry is valid, the Service LED flashes, and the five function LEDs illuminate. But the code is not good.
The alarm system is on my table at work ( please see the attachment)
Please can you help me reset the alarm system to factory default ?
I don’t think that clears the installer password. I went online and bought just the board since the alarm co wanted to charge me a $150 for a service call and the new NX8 board was cheaper. Hacking the ROM is just too much. I did find someone online that would take the board and give it a shot but that too was more expensive than simply buying a new one after it got shipped 2 ways.
I assume you tried all the usual installer password suspects.
rstrouse is right: without the Go To Program code you are stuck, and there is no known (to the Internet) way of reading or resitting the code in the EEPROM.
If buying a new board is not an option, you could brute-force it. Knowing that there is a user PIN that is four digits long is good; it means that the Go To Program code is also four digits long (it’s possible to use six-digit codes too). If you try fifty codes a day you can search the entire ten thousand possibilities in as little as six months.
Yeah I was just referring to the 1111… 2222… 1234… etc. and the one that is the default 9713. Your fingers will bleed. I’m sad to say that I tried codes for a few hours and after the blood dried on my forehead I bought a new board. Let us know in 2025 when you get it.
Just for shucks try this one 4316. It’s just a random number but it illustrates the point. ;D
