I am slowly getting my home automation system up and running, but I am now up to trying to work out my first complex scene and am hoping I can get some help.
I would like to set up my Vera 3 so it will have my Sonos system announce that the washing machine or the dryer has finished. I have done some searching but am really getting a little lost in all the info. I am hoping that after getting some help working this out, that I will then be able to proceed with other stuff with that new knowledge.

@Homer, it is certainly possible to do this with Vera scenes and maybe a little Lua code. It would be easier, though, using PLEG - unless you really want to learn how to use Lua. See PLEG Basics for an introduction and examples.
There are a lot of forum members who use PLEG as the backbone of their automation so you can get plenty of help if you get stuck.
From a newbie point of view Rex Beckett is right on the money. I am hooked on PLEG but, in my case writing a couple Lua codes first really made me appreciate PLEG a lot more.
Oh, maybe not a newbie anymore, now I am a private 1st class.
I am working on the same thing, so let me know if you get it working!
I have an AEON lab energy switch for my washing machine and another thread told me about the EMSensor app which lets you have thresholds for the washing machine as the power consumption goes up and down.
I’m not sure where to go from here though and I’m stuck! At least I can check my phone to see if the washer is still running before I go to the laundry room, but it sure would be nice if I could just get it to send me a notification!
