Help, please! I decided to try Z-wave version 3.20 since I was adding a new Monster AVL300 remote and wanted to test inclusion. I followed the directions exactly from the wiki (http://wiki.micasaverde.com/index.php/MigrateTo452), planning to use the “Hack to convert 2.78 to 3.20” option. I followed the instructions exactly. I have a Vera2, UI5, Firmware 1.5.346.
After rebooting, Vera showed “No Zwave dongle”. I couldn’t do the “Hack to convert 2.78 to 3.20” because it says “Command failed Zwave not ready”. Same message with “Reset Z-wave chip” and “Reset Z-wave network”. The ZWave LED is solid, but does not respond to button presses. I tried restoring from backup and “Restore Dongle Firmware”. I even did a factory reset. No matter what I do, Vera’s Zwave chip will not respond.
The Z-Wave Settings Options page is showing:
Version 2.78 L:1
House/Node House: 3697 Node 1 Suc 1
Role Suc SIS:YES PRI:YES
Last update 31-DEC-1969 17:00
Last Z-Wave network backup 6-MAY-2012 07:40
Port /dev/tts/1
The log shows repeats of this:

02 05/12/12 15:25:05.281 ZWaveJobHandler::Run connect to /dev/tts/1 -28 lock 1 <0xc04>
I’ve read about problems like this with the original Vera, but not with Vera2. Can anyone toss my a life preserver?
[quote=“garrettwp, post:2, topic:171494”]Did you try to revert back to 2.78? Sounds like the flashing of the firmware did not go well.

Yes, I followed the Wiki instructions for downgrading to 2.78 which hasn’t helped. The thing is, this wasn’t a firmware update, it was a Z-wave update.
When I said firmware, I meant the firmware of the z-wave chip and not of Vera. You may have to contact MCV for assistance. Hopefully others can chime in.
I had tried the first suggestion, but not the second. I’ve tried that now, still no luck. I’m now on firmware 1.1.1245, but still “No Zwave dongle”. I also tried a factory reset using SSH and “/usr/bin/cmh_Reset.sh all”. That also didn’t work.
I believe the issue is that the firmware of the zwave chip did not get flashed correctly and it is not responding. You will need to get a hold of MCV and have them help you reflash the zwave chip.

Unfortunately, I think you’re right. Looks like I could be down for a long time…
Wow! I am pleasantly surprised. I put in a trouble ticket yesterday. When I checked this morning, MCV had restored the Zwave dongle. No word on how they did it.
They most likely restored the chip firmware via the command line. When I got my Vera 2 years ago it was like this on day one. I had to wait the weekend to contact them and restore the chip.
