No Siren and issues on DSC 1832...

Friends,

  1. Finally i managed to setup and program the DSC 1832 security system in my house… but siren is not working even after i arm the panel and if i open the door.??? Do i need to do any setup or programming for the siren???

I am using the below kit …

  1. DSC Panel does not say anything if i open any zones…I want to set up the panel to alert(With audible voice from Panel) me if my kids open any zones.
Example : Basement door has been opened…bla bla…
How can i setup this ???

  2. How to arm and disarm from the DSC 1832 panel.??? and whats the difference between Away and Stay on the panel???

  3. How to call cell phone when the zone opens???

Thanks…
magik.

Most likely you’ll need to look over your settings on the panel. Make sure you have the panel properly configured.

Hi Garrett,

Thanks for the reply…
Can i know what kind of settings i need to check on the panel???
How to verify the panel configuration???

Thanks,
magik.

You are better asking these questions on one of the dedicated DIY alarm forums, and tackle each problem one by one.

I would start by trying the system test, which should test the siren.

Mainly you need to read the manual since things like this along with zone followers (beeps when zones open), are listed.

Strangely,

I did posted the questions on DIY but no response…
http://www.diysecurityforum.com/index.php?topic=30755.0

I did the system test and the siren worked…

Siren is not working when the system is armed and instant zone is opened… I tried with all 1 to 6 zones. The DSC Panel displays the zone number which is opened but no siren…
I even tested the siren connecting to battery. Siren is good.

Do i need to do any program to activate the siren or any system options need to be switched on or need to upgrade any version?.
Pls suggest.

Thanks,
magik.

You probably asked them too many questions

OK good the Siren works! What do you have set as the definition for each zone? They should either be set up as something like 01,02,03,04 or 05!

Also the if the zone attributes are set for silent alarm, then you will not hear anything! You will need to go into section 101 (zone 1) and make sure the first attribute (1) is displayed on and not blank I think! To toggle these 8 attributes on and off then then you need to press the corresponding number on the keypad.

e.g: *8 [installer code] 101 1 ##

If this works (and this is what the issue was) then zone 2 is section 102, zone 3 is 103 etc etc, and you’ll want to make those changes there too!

Basic steps:

  1. if it’s a wireless device, install using section 804
  2. section 202 (zones 1-8), 203 (9-16), etc, enable the active zones
  3. define zone type in 001. in this you go sequentially from 1-16, using 01 for delay, 26 for monitored/non-alarm, etc. look up the zone type in the manual.
  4. set zone attributes in each zone’s section. 101, 1234-6-8 (the 8 is for wireless, 6 is for chime).

so for a new wireless sensor in zone 1 partition 1 the steps would be something like:

*8
5555 (installer code)
804
01 (zone number)
123456 (device id printed on device)

exit

202
1------- (toggle to enable active zones)

001
01 (sets zone 1/first in sequence as delay zone type)
00 (null for zone 2)
00
00
and so on through zone 16…

101
1234-6-8 (set 6 on for chime, 8 on for wireless).

now, do a wireless test.

*8
5555
904 (wireless test section)
press > til 01 is visible
trigger sensor, you should hear a chirp.

These steps work on my 1832 with RFK5500 keypad. I have 9 wireless zones and 1 wired set up.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Strangely… you solved my problem…your example(e.g: *8 [installer code] 101 1 ##) fixed my siren issue…

Intrepid… mine is all 6 wireless zones… and below is the programming which i used… can you please let me know if i am doing anything wrong…

In your message you mentioned that
101
1234-6-8 (set 6 on for chime, 8 on for wireless).

but i saw on manual it says 3 to ON Chime…??

Thanks.

What @Intrepid mentioned I think is the initial configuration for the door chime of each zone, it sets which zones will chime when you enable the feature from the keypad using *4, and essentially allows you to customize which zones chime when you have it active (using *4) on a day to day basis without going into programming mode.

Therefore to enable chime for each zone you’ll want to do something like *8 [installer code] 101 6 ## etc

Anyway one down… now on to your other questions since 1 and 2 are now possibly solved (1 is confirmed solved at least).

So for 3 (or the first one since you listed it twice instead of 3 and 4), have you figured this out yet?

So the initial configuration is *4 for the zones to chime when we enable…

Therefore to enable chime for each zone you’ll want to do something like *8 [installer code] 101 6 ## etc
But in the manual it says 6 Swinger Shutdown for the 101 -164 zone attributes…??? is that right code???

I didn’t got any update on How to call cell phone when the zone opens… Once i am done with rest of the programming then i will work on calling cell phone when the zone opens…

Can you please verify my programming…
Thanks you very much Strangely

OK lets sort the chime out first!

Try *8 [installer code] 000 6 ## and then see if it works if chime is enabled with *4

Finally everything is working as expected…even the Chime…
I did enabled chime with *4 and *8 [installer code] 1,3,8 ##

I didn’t try *8 [installer code] 000 6 ## …

Now only left is calling cell phone when the zone are opens…

Thanks for your help Strangely…

Can some one help me on programming to call cell phone from DSC 1832…?
Thanks

I have a feeling you will not get much help on this in this forum. As others have stated in pervious posts, questions regarding the alarm panel are best suited for the diysecurityforum.

@magik LMGTFY - Let Me Google That For You

See the first link for how to set this up

Thanks Strangely…
I already tried the same settings…

**Section 320 to 323
Does this means … i need to add zones on **Section 320 , 321, 322 and 323 is it???

Thanks…

Looks like you just need to add a reference, and the a number corresponding to the zone is most logical. If you only have 8 zones (assuming they are 1 through 8 ), then you only need to go into section 320 to do this, however if any of your zones are on 9-16 then you need to use section 321 also and 322, 323 for any zones numbered higher than 17.

Some more info on this here:

@magik, did you get it working?

Strangely… Sorry i was out of town.

Still call to cell phone is not working…Need help.
