Newbie needs help with scene control for Leviton VRF01-1LZ Vizia RF fan

Hello,

Just planning a new install over XMAS and need to figure what would be the best (secondary) scene controller (remote) to control the fan from my bedside. I figure I could use a smartphone, but wanted something bedside that could turn the fan on/off and control speed. There seems to be lots of controllers and thought perhaps others had already done this.

Also just understanding how scene controllers work. Figure i would set up a scene to turn on, a scene to turn off, then can I create a scene to increase speed in say % increments or % decreases or do I have to set up a scene for say 20% speed, another for 40% speed, 60% speed etc…

Any help for this newbie would be appreciated.

Alan

This looks like a dimmable light to Vera.
Any controller that can dim a ZWave device can turn on/off and/or set the speed.
There are to many ways to enumerate.

I use old cell phones as remotes in the house to talk to Vera.
They are cheap … And if you have kids … They will tell you that a 6 month old cell phone is in need of replacing :frowning: As long as the WIFI works, they make great remote controls.

I have a VCRZ4 on my nightstand to do just that.
Z1 = nightstand lamsp
Z2 = Overhead (dimmable) light
Z3 = Ceiling fan
Z4 = Unused

The controller has a rocker switch to control light levels.

I used the VRCPG to program them to be “on/off” to they go to whatever the previous dim-level was. You could program them via scenes too.
