I’m a complete newbie, so please forgive my ignorance. I just ordered the VeraPlus, and am hoping to use it for very basic home security and some fun home automation. From what I’ve read on the forums, it seems that I can use the Aeotec siren as both a siren and as a door chime, and I just wanted to make sure I understood what I read.
To use it as a door chime (not as a doorbell, more to know when my 4-year-old has opened a door), I need to set door sensors up and ask Vera to sound a lowered volume chime when the sensor triggers, correct? I know I’m simplifying the matter grossly, but I just want to make sure I understand the sequence of what I have to do…
You can choose any of the 5 tones at any volume level and set it to play/sound upon triggering in a scene. I previously had it set up that way so it chimes everytime my garage door opens.
Hey guys. Does all of this still apply? I am brand new to Vera also and just setup my Vera Plus about a month ago. I purchased 3 Aeotec Siren Gen5 and I am hoping to use them as both a siren and a door chime when my new Aeotec Recessed Door Sensor Gen5’s trigger. I am running the latest firmware (1.7.2044) currently. I can currently manually trigger the 3 sirens at full volume and can vouch that they are definitely loud enough for a security siren!
Just looking for a little nudge in the right direction of getting the door chime setup. I have about 30 mins of experience with a Vera controller :-).
