I received my new HD Vistacam and the instructions look simple, with the exception of them sending you to a URL that happens to be a defunct twitter account to finalize setup. Once I found the online instructions and the accurate link, I followed the instructions but the Vera failed to recognize the camera. I was able to access the camera via IP address (that I got from my router) but Vera doesn’t recognize it at all, even after I went through the steps many times, and finally reset the camera to factory settings. Does anyone have any experience with this new Vistacam?
I ended up letting support configure mine. They never told me what they did. I was too busy to bother asking.
Ha! I probably should have called when I discovered that the setup URL was pointing to a defunct twitter account and saved myself a lot of grief. I’m planning to take one more brief stab at it today, and if it doesn’t work within about 5 minutes, I’m going to have to call.
One thing, the twitter url includes an I or an l, I forget which. Try flipping those letters. I have had 2 of these cameras up and running for about 2 weeks. 1 of them appears to have died. I am on with tech support now
Sam problem here. I ended up putting in a ticket as well and let them set it up. Really annoying…
I consider buying a vistacam HD but can’t find any reviews about quality and reliability - any suggestions?
I think the wifi is really weak. Maybe my expectations are too high though
There is a big problem withe HD cameras. Some of the features don’t work and from my experience it is much less reliable than the regular camera. I spent a l of time with tech support trying to get it to work. For example, there is no zoom and viewing requires licking on View and then Settings - repeating this process maybe many times before the image comes up. The expanded view may show the image for 10 seconds and then you get the film icon.
They pulled the camera from sale but I think it’s back now. The problem is not the hardware but very poorly written software. Tech Support acknowledged problems with the camera and made serious efforts with me to get it working - without success. They offered a refund.
Camera does not work in wireless mode.
It’s a shame.

You received a refund? How?
