New Vera not showing up

My Vera isn’t showing up when I go to findvera.com. It’s plugged into my existing router. I did forget to attach the zwave dongle before powering it up the first time.

I can connect to the wifi and surf the net through it so it must be online.

I don’t see it in the DHCP table of my existing router. I tried going to 192.682.81.1 as suggested in the troubleshooting section, I get no response. I also tried going to local.findvera.com, to no avail.

I’ve rebooted the Vera a couple of times, to no avail.

It seems to have gotten stuck in bridge mode or something like that.

I tried pushing the red reset switch on the back but that didn’t help either.

Ideas?

You did connect the WAN port of the Vera to the router right?

yep, it’s working like a hub right now.

i connect devices to the vera and they can get to the net. but I can’t get to the vera device itself.

wan port is connected to my router.

computer connected to the vera.

go to findvera.com and it says no vera on my network!!!

try after the reset - plugging it directly into your broadband connection and see if you can’t get it to that way. Then you can set up it’s networking settings how you want and then plug it back it behind your router.

The IP address should be 192.168.81.1 not 192.682.81.1. If it is setup as a router or switch set your PC NIC card to a static IP address of 192.168.81.2. Try connecting to Vera and if successful change the network settings to default. Put your PC NIC card back to the DHCP setting and try to connect again to Vera.

Now correct me if I am wrong, but in my experience of using a second router as a switch I would disable DHCP on the one to be used as a switch (Vera would do this for you when you picked Switch or Bridge in its menu). Then connect the routers via their LAN ports, not from the WAN port of Vera to your Router, but from LAN 1-4 of Vera to LAN 1-4 on router. That is how mine is attached and setup was a breeze.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I connect to the vera over wifi. I set my ip to 192.168.81.2 and gateway as 192.168.1.1 and I can surf the net.

I can not connect to the vera web ui though. It’s not listening on port 80 at all. My browser just times out.

I also tried https://192.168.81.1 and that times out as well.

This is really strange.

How can I reset it and start over?

thanks, i looked at that page before and it mainly talks about “go to the vera page” which of course i can’t do.

buried in there is a snippet about hitting the reset button twice. i missed that part the first time i read the page. i’ll give that a try.

The problem is that your Vera is not communicating to findvera.com and most probably, after you will connect to http://192.168.81.1 ( not https ) you won’t be able to activate the remote control. Check the settings on your main router in order to allow connection between your Vera’s IP and findvera.com . Another way to tell what’s the IP of your Vera is to check the DHCP table on your main router and as long you have internet connection through wi-fi, you will be able to connect to that IP.
