What i’ve been waiting for to control my immersion heater anyway.
Who’s going to be the first to review?

On paper:

[ul][li]Wife proof local control[/li]
[li]Auto shut off for safety and economy[/li]
[li]Hopefully shows in Vera (and UI5) as a switch for vera scheduling[/li]
[li]Cheap[/li]
[li]Thermostat available[/li][/ul]

I’ve had one installed for several weeks (from Homebots.ie) with the optional Temperature probe. Looks & operates like a conventional boost timer on the wall but with optional Z-Wave control.

Initially tried it on a V2 running 1.5.622. It’s recognised as a binary switch so you can switch it off & on from the dashboard. The temperature reading is picked up within the device variables but not displayed as it uses the standard binary switch device. Was not able to pull up the configuration parameters so could not try out the temperature cut-off function which I think is a really neat function even when manually operated. It also did not report the Switch status so you would not be aware from the dashboard if it was manually activated.

Then moved it to a Vera Edge with the latest UI7 f/w (1.7.1018). Again shows as a standard binary switch and can be controlled from the dashboard. Temperature reading is available among the device variables so is available for display on Variable container etc. I then noticed that the polling interval was set to zero by default. Now that I have entered 60 for the polling interval the switch status is being picked up by Vera so you can see if it is manually activated - that was probably also the issue on UI5. However I still can’t call up configuration parameters 2-5. I reckon that maybe a configuration file issue that will have to be added to the long list of device file upgrades we are waiting on…however it is 3kW rated and remotely switchable by Z-Wave which ticks a lot of boxes.

I’ve had one in place now too for a few weeks. Going well.

I completely agree with what you’ve said Frasier.
I’ve got a conditional switch set up to trigger this. The conditional switch picks up on the temperature device in the switch.
Also Homewave can report the temperature as an item on a screen.

Overall it’s working well and i’m happy with it. I would buy more of them based on the temperature reporting built in (2 devices for the price of 1!)

I moved the SIR321 back on to my Vera 2 today (which is still my production system) and I can now adjust the configuration parameters as desired. I see support for the SIR321 has been added to UI7 today so I guess UI5 pulls down the same device set-up files and that’s why this is now functional. There is no display of the temperature but the reading is still available from the advanced tab. So the good news is that the SIR321 can be used with both UI5 & UI7 now (I have not checked it on UI7 today).
