Had the same problem with not being able to find the app in XBMC after installing.
Had to go to system\add ons\ enabled
then on a context menu untick hide foreign
then can see the app under services
this was an hour or so of hair pulling

Hi:
For some reason Vesa says Cant detect device but XBMCstate is working 100%
How can I solve this?
Thanks,
Totally noob question, but I installed the add-on in XBMC, but I can’t seem to find the add-on to adjust the settings. I checked the Add-on option under XBMC settings menu and also looked under program add-ons, etc…
Where do I find the add-on after I’ve installed it?
Does this work with the raspbmc 14.0?
I’d appreciate an idiot’s manual, cause I don’t get how to do this.
Hi. I got this working with Raspbmc Kodi (xbmc version 14).
I used the steps from an earlier post.
After you install the addon in xbmc, you have to go into Settings>Addons> enabled addons, and then go into the context menu and make sure you uncheck the ‘hide foreign’ option. Then view all the enabled Services addons. There you should see the Micasaverde adding. Select that adding and select ‘configure’.
Make sure you enter the device ID for your XBMC plugin from Vera into the config for the addon.
This works fine in OpenElec (Kodi 14). Thanks so much for this!

Did you solve this? I have the same issue. Very annoying.
Does anybody know how to use the “Idle” function of this plugin in a LUUP script?
would it be something like:
local KODI_SID = “urn:upnp-org:serviceId:XBMCState1”
local playerState = luup.variable_get(KODI_SID, “IdleTime”, 123)
Does the idle time even work?, I dont see it changing in the Advanced tab.

It should work OK, just a guess… In the Vera UI in the XBMCState device for your XBMC PC instance, under the advanced tab have you entered the static IP address of your XBMC PC and its MAC address? Also make a note of this devices ID number?
In the XBMC add-on on the XBMC PC, in here you enter the Vera IP address and the ID number. But I guess you have this setup as you say its working just not showing as detected?
I can confirm XBMCState is still working great on Kodi Helix 14.2 on OpenElec. The add-on could do with renaming but other than that its all good.
This was the setup guide I wrote here when I setup mine.
Hi,
I’m having the same problems and was just wondering which format the MAC should be in. I wrote it down as it shows in Windows, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the plugin expected all hex groups without spaces or colons instead of dash or something. I checked out your howto, but it never showed anything in the MAC box.
Cheers!
I used colons to separate, I’m not even sure if the MAC address is required but it can’t hurt.
Tried colons now, but don’t really have high expectations. We’ll see, though. I don’t really see the reason for a MAC field, unless it’s for accepting traffic from a computer on DHCP…
To fix the “Can’t detect device” error on UI7, open up the XBMCState device and go to Advanced → Variables. Set the CommFailure variable to 0 and then do a reload engine. No more error!
I have seen today that there is a new KodiRemote plug-in for Vera, based off XBMCState and it has all that functionality, but you now also have playback transport controls for Kodi !
The thread about it is here. Its a little harder to install and setup though as you have to SSH in to your Vera box to add a file.
Hi
I’ve recently noticed a big problem with the Micasaverde Kodi Event add-on (KodiRemote) and presumably also with XBMCState as they share the same base code.
I use the Apple iTunes Trailers add-on for Kodi and whenever I start to play a trailer Vera crashes.
Kodi log file details here
My posts on this issue start here onwards in the KodiRemote thread.
Do any of the DEVs know how to fix this?
Many thanks.
I hope this is not too off topic, I apologise if it is. For anyone who is interested, I have just released a new Addon for XBMC that will control Vera Scenes. It works with the latest version of Kodi and appears to be stable (for me at least, let me know if you find any issues).
You can read more and download from here Blog - SmartHome
I hope this helps anyone looking to control Vera from XBMC
Nice, I’ll have to give this a try.

Hi guys,
I’m just configuring the addon version 1.2 on my new kodi right now. (after a f*cking forced migration last night from an older xbmc version)
Got a few questions about it:
Tks
- what is the use of the “custom Menu Event” part ? where it asks for some mysterious windows ID’s ?! I don’t see what it is about and I can’t remember it was existing in my previous version of the addon.
Tks
It lets you go directly to a certain part of Kodi:

I still don’t get how to use it actually but ok.
