hmmm…appears to be bluetooth based. I hope they offer a version with Z-wave built in. And to boot it’s iPhone only =( for now.
I think it will be interesting to see what this is like when it makes it to full production. I will keeping an eye on it. Not a big fan of the key option still (especially if you lose your phone). They should have included the technology in the standard keypad approach but I understand they are trying to be different.
Interesting they announce in proximity to the August:
May the best lock win!
Those seem similar to this kickstarter project. https://lockitron.com/preorder
Wow likey that especially with IFTTT baked in.
if you watch the show Shark Tank this lock is the result of a presentation with the sharks that they helped fund.
Heck and goji too! Cam built in…

The built in camera is pretty sweet! The competitive market is heating up. All the startups don’t have the finances that someone like Kwikset has. But there will still be people willing to give them a solid try even thought they aren’t the “big” name.
The best thing about these new ones is there’s no ugly keypad, which the current crop of Z-wave options is sullied with. The Lockitron is attractive to me in particular since you can keep your old school lock in place.
Since it uses Bluetooth can’t there be an app that sends a wifi code to the phone and then the phone sends the Bluetooth. So its actually safer since if you do want to send someone a code to get in through the door they can only open the door from up close (via Bluetooth). By adding the WiFi to Bluetooth via app we can then send info to Vera that the door was indeed open or closed…
Not sure if that is possible though ![]()
Ronlin,
I’m reaching, but look into Tasker for Android. You can automate Vera triggers through this, and Tasker can be triggered by other stuff, such as Bluetooth connectivity.
Tasker is in essence Android based automation software.
