New GE Link Bulbs at Home Depot

I was just in Home Depot looking for a couple of GE Link bulbs. These are the A19 size that use Zigbee. I had two already and they work with the Plus without issue. At my particular Home Depot they had the original bulb on sale for 14.00 down from 14.95. They had next to it a new style bulb that produces the same 800 Lumens (60watt equivalent) but uses less power 10.5 versus 12 watts. The new bulb also has a frosted lens instead of the original’s clear. The new bulbs were priced at 15.95.

I didn’t buy any of the new ones because I wasn’t 100% sure they would work without issue. I may pick up one this weekend to experiment with. I like the style of the frosted bulb better, it should produce more of an even illumination pattern.

Let me know if anyone has tried the new bulb. Sorry I didn’t get a SKU while I was there. I thought about it on the ride home.

I went back to the HomeDepot today and picked up one of the newer GE A19 Link Bulbs. The new bulb rang up as $15.00. Upon closer examination, the new bulb is a Daylight bulb and the original is 2700K. I was able to add the new bulb to my Vera Plus, but after it was added there was a message that popped up about the new bulb being a different type. But after clicking okay on the message I was able to name and locate it and it configured normally and is working without issues.

Attached are photos of the box and the bulbs.
