I have been using Vera for about six months. I have recently ran into problems with the internet connection. I have read through many forums and are still a bit confused. I am running version 15 on a Vera 3. I have assigned a static ip from the Lynksys router 192.168.1.8. When I log on via https://cp.mios.com/mysystems.php my vera shows up with 192.168.1.8. After a while I get the message “Unable to connect and retrieve data, please try again later. If the situation persist, please check your internet settings.” If I close that I am able to see my devices. I have included a .jpg of how I have the network setup and would appreciate help on fixing it.
Sounds like your Vera is periodically loosing internet connectivity.
What happens when you open a browser on a computer on your local network and go to 192.168.1.8?
Also, what kind of internet connection do you have? Could it be your losing connection at times or you are suffering a lack of bandwidth? Are others using that same connection and eg streaming video or playing online games when you have those episodes?
First thing you need to check that IP address on you network.
What is the DHCP range allocated on your router and does it cover that IP address?
A fixed IP address should not be in the range of the DHCP allocated as this can result in conflict; especially if the DCHP server assigns that address to another device on your network.
I would use Reserved IP in your router and set your Vera to automatic or ensure that the Vera is outside the DHCP range.
To further add to the above post,
I recently changed to the Xfinity wifi. It’s router software was very specific and your statics needed to be outside the DHCP range. So by default it’s usually .2-.252 give or take for DHCP.
I made all my statics up to .7 and made the DHCP range .8-.252.
However, on my old home Netgear router I could set static and dhcp reserved within the allowable DHCP range total and never have a conflict or issue across several years and about 15 network devices. So do check on that.

Even when I reboot everything this occurs.

It goes to the Vera

I am in US and have Charter High Speed. I have tried going directly from the router with nothing else on and have the same issues

To get what ?

192.1168.1 to 192.168.11 are protected form other devices so the router starts assigning from 12

Not 100% sure what you mean

I have also tried that
I’m with @Brientim on this problem. It absolutely looks like a duplicate IP address issue.
If you can’t find it, try changing the IP address on Vera to something else that you know is not in use perhaps 192.168.1.248 and see if the problem persists.
Try this and see if service is restored.
Turn off your Vera.
Turn off your router for about 20 seconds.
Restart router and allow a few minutes for it to boot fully.
Restart Vera.
Test, again
The above will clear all cached data.
Also a network scanner such as FING on a mobile device may also assist.
Vera has two MAC addresses and it can switch between them and Setting Manual network was one that use to cause this with previous hardware but I have never followed up on current hardware.

You can also run the command below in your browser to ensure it update MIOS
Vera_IP/cgi-bin/cmh/ReportStatus.sh?PK_AccessPoint=UNIT_SERIAL
However, this does not appear to be the underlying cause.
Replace Vera_ip and Serial number as appropriate
For SAFETY sake relative to IP addresses … Vera should always ask for a DHCP address. This is also the default for Vera … so if you do a factory reset … this is what you will get.
Then tell your router to make this a permanent DHCP reservation. Then your router will ALWAYS provided the same IP address when Vera requests an address.
This behaves like a static IP address.
But if you use this strategy for ALL devices in your home … there will never be a chance that you get a duplicate IP address.
Yup. That’s how my network is setup as well. all devices are set to DHCP and my DHCP server assigns ‘static’ IP addresses based on the device’s MAC address.
A handy free network scanner for the Windows platform is Network Scanner (https://www.softperfect.com/products/networkscanner)

So clarity for me here. I will go into my router and unassign the IP address 192.168.1.8 that I have for the Vera Mac Address. Then I will do a factory reset. Then I take whatever address Vera gets from the Router and assign that to the Vera. At the same time I should take all other laptops etc and assign them a permanent ip address also?
No. If your Linksys Router already has a DHCP Reserved IP address, just change the Vera Network to DHCP or reset network to default.
No factory reset required as this would be destroy the rest of your Vera setting.
Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I kept the Linksys router set to 192.168.1.8. I then reset the Vera to automatically configure and it is working fine. I set the router so it can only assign ip addresses starting from 192.168.1.11.
Be aware that different brands of routers have different rules on assigning reserved (static) IP addresses.
Some brands of routers require that the assigned IP address be outside of the DHCP range. Having it inside the DHCP range can cause duplicate IP address assignment, as mentioned earlier.
Other router brands require that the assigned IP address be included in the DHCP range.
Static addresses that are entered on the clients themselves are always outside of the DHCP range.
You need to double check your router manual to see in which range you should specify your “reserved” IP addresses.
I believe that Linksys is one of those router brands that insist that the reserved IP address be inside the DHCP range. I recall that my EA3200 did.
From a Linksys knowledge base (for example):
I did speak to Linksys today and they told me either setup with the 1900AC should work fine. After more research though (including what others have said)I have now set this up as you and others have recommended. Thank you
