First question I have, is how to deal with customer support! I submitted this same question to them about my virtual device and got the following answer. I replied back asking that they escalate to the next tier of support. Is that the right way to handle?
“You have limited control over your devices or your Vera unit through the mobile app and it?s basic functionality is to activate your device, to turn it on and off and change different aspects of the device such as temperature setpoint and modes for a thermostat and different actions for certain devices which have been integrated by us for the mobile app specifically. Your device being a virtual device, it does not have a basic on/off function because it?s not a z-wave device integrated into the zwave network of the Vera unit. Even though the files are working on the user interface online, they will not work on the mobile app. The most control over your system it?s available through the web interface through our web portal home.getvera.com.”
Here is my question. I have created a “Filter Sensor” plugin that my thermostat will communicate with to track the HVAC filter usage and send a notification when the filter needs to be changed. On the web interface, device page, I can see the text “Filter is 11% used (15 hrs)” and then a button to reset the usage info. The 11 and the 15 are variables in the json file and the rest of the text are labels. When I view the device page in the Windows Mobile app, all I see is the button. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong in the json file? I can attach all my plugin files if somebody wants to test it out.
