I am trying to set up my Swann surveillance system to my Vera 3 system using UPnP. Using add devices in UI5 the dvr is not recognized. I have plugged the dvr into the Vera3 using a CAT45.
Thanks.
Does the swann unit allow you to view each camera individually via an http address? You will most likely need to add each camera feed into vera.

Hello
Assuming you are using the same Swann DVR as me (2000 series) then I’ve worked out how to do it. Its not via uPnP.
You need to:
- Create a generic IP camera
- Specify the IP address of your DVR in the settings page
- Specify /stillimgX.jpg in the URL field (where “X” is the channel number you want to see)
- Specify the “user” username in the username field
- Specify the “user” password (whatever you set it to on the console) in the password field.
Repeat for each of the four channels (so you have four distinct cameras). It won’t stream, but it will display.
If I browse on my site to:
http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/stillimg1.jpg, and authenticate – I get a still from that moment on channel 1 – pressing refresh gets me another, etc, etc).
Still testing it with my Vera 2, but hopefully thats some help for you and works.

I have an 8 channel system and I’m finding that method isn’t working for me in a browser or at all. I’ve tried to view the stream in the browser using Fiddler but I’m not having any luck. I’ve emailed their tech support and I will update this thread if I find anything.
Hello,
The Swann technical support team got back to me. Their official response is below. I wish I had better news. I already returned mine and I’m on the hunt for a system that will work with Vera.
[i]Hello
Our DVR systems is not capable of video streaming each camera on the net. All of them will be streaming through the web interface of the DVR. it seems that our DVRs are not compatible with this Vera system of yours.

What is the reason for wanting the Swann DVR to be viewed through Vera when it can be viewed over the internet on its own?
I am thinking of purchasing a Swann 2600 DVR but don’t see a need to connect it to Vera.
Thanks
Integration and consistency on the interface. I am frustrated by having so many different systems. Plus, if it’s integrated, I can have it take a picture when the door is unlocked and then script things to happen automagically that won’t be possible with separate systems.
Seems like you could use a motion detecting IP Vera compatible camera for that.
IP cameras to Vera and a Qnap VS-2004 Pro VioStor NVR? http://www.qnap.com/USEng/pro_detail_feature.asp?p_id=170
Connecting the Swann system to the internet is not as easy as they make it sound. You need a static IP (15.00/month from my ISP) or a dynamic dns server which my ISP wont allow. I can’t even get mine to work on my local network. I’m giving up and returning it.

How do you specify the IP address for each camera? My understanding is that the IP address is for the Swann DVR.
