I recently added on to our home that has two furnaces controlled with rcs t43’s and vera. They worked fine untill the addition was heated with a honeywell zone system on one of the furnaces and another t43. The zone system ran the heat pump but would not call for gas heat when the outside temperature dropped down. My HVAC guy said my thermostats were not compatible with the zone system.
I need recommendations on a z wave controlled thermostat that will work on the honeywell zone system with heat pump/gas.

If I am not mistaken it’s your Honeywell zone control board that needs to support “Dual Fuel” setup. If I can remember it, I will verify this tomorrow.
If you have the installers manual for the zone board, not the thermostat, look in it and see what the list of supported system types are. If it has dual fuel listed, and the model numbers match your exact zone board, then it may be the thermostats. But I’m thinking you will find that your zone board may be the wrong one, or it may not be configured properly. My brain doesn’t always work as well as I’d like it to, but I seem to remember that the zone board takes care of the difficult stuff and just looks for the thermostat to tell it if it needs hot air or cold air.
