Moving over from Staples Connect, Vera Secure or Vera Plus?

I am preparing to move over from a Staples Connect hub. I have complete Honeywell Vista20P alarm system about a year old, so I do not need a security system.
Would there still be advantages to buying the Vera Secure over the Vera Plus if I did not plan to use it as an alarm system? Or would it actually be a hinderance if I had the Vera Secure and did not use the alarm functions?
