We are moving house on Friday so I will be shutting down my Vera plus system here and then restarting it a few days later at the new place with all the same zwave units but obviously in different relative locations. What is the best way to get the new zwave network optimized? Will the automatic overnight network heal be sufficient to sort it out, or do I need to manually intervene somehow? Am I better off wiring/plugging in all of the units before I restart the Vera, or starting the Vera and then plugging the units in one by one? Any tips gratefully received.
I think it will take a couple of nights but the network should reoptimize itself overtime… I myself faced a similar situation but decided to wipe it all out and start from scratch…
That’s brave! I have far too many complicated scenes, lua code etc to want to start again from scratch with new device numbers.
Any thoughts on the best way of reconnecting it all? My gut feeling is to reconnect all of the modules before I power up the Vera so that all the units should be reachable and all network nodes will still be active even if they are in a different relative location.
If you don’t want to start over, then powering up all your devices prior to powering your Vera would be the way to go. I’m interested to see if the heal will eventually sort everything out. My guess is that it may take a few days. Please let us know how this works out.
That’s what I will do then. A lot of my units are plug-in TBK switch/dimmer modules so I might plug them in with nothing plugged into them for a couple of days and check they are all communicating correctly before I start using them in earnest. I will report back.
So we moved In on Friday, but it has taken until today to be in a position to reconnect my Vera. I plugged in all of the units around the house first and then powered up my Veraplus. Amazingly when I went to the home page there was a green smiley face and all items connected. Turns out the relief was a bit premature as it must have been the last data it already had in memory and a couple of the most distant from the Vera did drop out after a while presumably when Vera tried to poll them. But by strategically moving a couple of spare units around to bridge gaps to those, I now have a fully functioning system .
Bravo!! Thanks for the update!
