Minimote and Ezlo Plus

Hello @wrathwielder

We have sent you an email through the support ticket to troubleshoot your unit and account.

We will be attentive to your response.

Just a thought. AEON has a download tool somewhere on their web site to update Minimote s/w. Maybe you have an older version of minimote s/w

Hi curiousB!

I saw that link a couple days ago and ran that firmware on both minimotes but it didn’t help (I believe I was already on 1.19 but I did it just to be sure)

Thanks!

Then you need to look into the logs to see if any ZWave activity is going on when you press a button. Things get pretty cryptic once you wade into this area.

The alternative is to direct associate a minimote key to a ZWave device. This takes Ezlo out of the equation so you can determine if Minimote is functioning.

One last item but another longshot. Meshbots (“Scenes”) can be setup but disabled. In the attached screen shot the “Scenes” with a grey power button are disabled and the green ones are active. Are your Minimote “scenes” inactive, i.e. grey?

iOS Client:

Web GUI (ezlogic.com):

No @cw-kid that number is not in BETA list

That is another short coming of the Ezlo system, you cannot see what firmware version devices are in the web UI. On Vera UI7 you can see.

If @wrathwielder agrees ? Then perhaps that controller can be enrolled in the firmware beta program.

@curiousB what firmware version is your controller that works with the Minimotes?

I am now on FIRMWARE: 2.0.48.2397.3 but I had MiniMote working on the standard release circa July 2022.

Did anyone ever get the minimotes to work with Ezlo Plus? I have 8 of them and none work now. They all worked with Vera. All paired and all accept button assignments with scenes/meshbots. Buttons just don’t work.

I think I did have a Minimote working at one point with an Ezlo Plus controller. I haven’t used it for a while. I will have to find it and charge it up, see if it works still ?

Still works for me! I pressed button 1 and it ran the Meshbot rule to toggle on my lamps OK.

  • Ezlo Plus Firmware: 2.0.59.2759.8
  • Advanced Scenes: 1.72
  • Minimote firmware: 5.02 P3 v1.17 EU

Hello @Bob388

Your controller is currently running an old firmware version. We have flagged it for an update during the next power cycle. Could you please disconnect the power adapter and then plug it back in? You should see a magenta light flashing during the update.

Once it is back online with a steady blue light, you can try again or unpair and re-pair your minimotes to test them again.

We will be attentive to your results and comments. Thank you!

After the update… reset two minimotes to factory setup. Included OK and assigned buttons to two different working meshbots/scenes. No error messages, but they still do not trigger known working scenes.

Hello @Bob388

We have sent you an email to gather more information about the situation and assist you through the troubleshooting process if needed. Once we have a solution, we will share the results here.

Thank you!

Hey Jonathan!

I thought I’d jump back into this discussion since I opened it last December…

I am at a point where I’d like to work with you to resolve my original issue of the Minimotes not working with my Ezlo, but more importantly the issue of my firmware not updating to the latest public release (or Beta which I’d still like to do)

I replied to the old email that was sent me with the ticket number, but since that is likely long-closed, could you send me another email?

Thanks!

-Greg

As I said my Aeotec Minimote is working fine with my Ezlo Plus controller.

I’m not sure if this is required, but you can update the firmware on the Minimotes via a download file and connecting it to your PC.

Last file I downloaded and used was version 1.17

Just seen there is now also a 1.19 version available. So I will download that and try it also.

Make sure to select the correct region file for your Z-Wave region. Mine is EU.

Requirements:

  • Windows PC
  • USB port to connect the Minimote to it

Steps:

  1. Unpair Minimote from your Network
  2. Download the firmware update
  3. Plug your Minimote into your Windows PC
  4. Open the firmware update file
  5. Run the firmware update (click the update button), wait for it to finish.
  6. Pair Minimote back into your network.

Actually it looks like my Minimote was already on the latest version 1.19 as I had previously downloaded that file and save it.

However I just unpaired / purged it from my Ezlo Plus and reset the Minimote by doing this:

Resetting the Minimote

  1. Press and hold both the buttons labeled
“Associate” and “Learn” for 10 seconds –
The red LED will blink from slow to fast.
  2. The blue LEDs will stay solid for 2
    seconds to indicate success.

I then ran the firmware update file again.

I then used the Mios iOS app to pair the Minimote again to the controller. However I was not able to do so, it kept saying “Inclusion process has stopped”.

I then tried the Android Mios app instead and that worked a little bit better it did actually detect the Minimote but then it got stuck at 50% on the pairing process.

So currently I cannot pair it back again to my controller.

@JonathanB can you maybe help? Thanks.

EDIT: I just paired the Minimote to my old Vera Plus and it worked first time no problems! So why can’t the Ezlo controller do it ?

Man - sorry you went from a working Minimote to where you are now…! :frowning:

I am already on the latest firmware that you just loaded.
I have never had any problem pairing - both Minimotes pair right away…but that’s all they’ll do - Ezlo will not recognize any button presses, whether they run scenes or access devices.

Like your setup, they still worked great with my old VeraPlus when I cranked that back up.

Early this year I finally broke down and bought the only other small Z-wave remote I could find which is a Fibaro keyfob. Worked right away, but I HATE the stupid raised symbols it has instead of actual numbered buttons…

I still really want the old Minimotes up and running though - hopefully support can work some magic for us

Its OK I wasn’t really using the Minimote anyway. Strange you can pair them but I could not this time.

And I can get the buttons working (when it was paired) and you cannot.

All I did was assign a button to my Meshbot rules trigger and then when I pressed the button the rules actions were run OK.

Hello @cw-kid

We will be reviewing the logs from your controller. Could you please share an approximate date and time of the pairing process so we can search for it?

Thank you!
