MiLight/Easybulb/LimitlessLED Plugins

Has anyone purchases from this company before?

The links shows 6w however the site says 9w, just waiting for a response on that part.

That does look the the 6W MiLight White. They show the 9W White here.

Finally got my b kit in. Just in time for Christmas. Going to play with it today. Need to find the rgbw strip controller to be shipped to the USA. Will the milight work with the us version?

Will the milight work with the us version?
There is only one version. The bridge communicates with the lamps and strip controller using 2.4GHz RF. Amazingly this is allowed on both sides of the pond and most, if not all, other parts of the world.

There are some very good deals available from Chinese suppliers if you don’t mind the wait.

Just one word of warning to people from what I discovered yesterday. I had the controller placed on top of my wifi router (AirPort Extreme) and it was causing wifi dropouts. I moved it away and everything was back to normal.

Just a thought. Can we have an option to enrol the wifi bulbs from the keyboard too please?
From personal experience, due to space constraint, having to click the mouse with the left hand
(I’m right handed) and the other on the switch is very challenging.

One thing I notice these wifi bulbs don’t like built in motion sensors on the lamp holder, even after de-activating the sensor and blocking the lens.

I'm afraid Vera's UI does not provide that option. I usually operate the light-switch with my left hand to leave my right for the mouse button. You can also enroll using the MiLight Smartphone app if that is more convenient.

Thanks for the tip. Perhaps the motion-sensor uses a solid-state switching element that somehow disturbs the lamp's power supply.

Rex,

Can I make a suggestion? When turning off the bulbs via off button, the LoadLevelStatus never changes. This makes it look like the bulb is on e.g. in my app. Can we change this so that when the bulb is turned off, the LoadLevelStatus will reflect the off state? We can still use the LoadLevelTarget for the level setting when turning the bulb on.

This is intentional, Garrett. I like to see what the dim level is on Vera’s UI even if it’s off. I use a separate variable IconState to make Vera’s icon reflect the actual state. I guess I could add an option to make it work like a traditional dimmer for those that want this.

Especially for Garrett, I have uploaded a new MiLightRGBW. If you add the option TDM to the Options variable on the Advanced tab, LoadLevelStatus and the slider on the UI will behave like that of a traditional dimmer and go to zero when you turn the lamp off.

Only I_MiLightRGBW.xml and MiLightRGBW.pdf have changed.

Hi Rex

So based on what you and @garretwp have said, if I want to control these bulbs via an mobile app (in my case HomeWave) I’m going to need to apply the TDM setting otherwise I will not know if the light is off or not?

Sadly I missed the postman today, but I’m reliably informed their is a package for me at the post office, so 4 RGBW bulbs etc should be in my grubby little hands at some point tomorrow

I don’t know about HomeWave, Chis, but in AutHomationHD the choice is this: If you don’t set the TDM option then the dim level and icon will show the last-used dim level even if the lamp is off. The on/off buttons will show the correct status though. When you set TDM, the dim level and icon will go to zero when the lamp is off.

See which way you like it. It only takes a few seconds to change it if you set the options using the action from Test Lua. See the plugin pdf for how to do this.

Have fun tomorrow with your new toys. Does she-who-must-be-obeyed know about them yet? ;D

Thanks for replying, I’m assuming HomeWave will show them as On, so I’ll check out the pdf when they are all set up.

Oh yes, the ‘we tried to deliver you a package while you were out’ card was on the door mat when we returned home earlier today. So the cat is well and truly out of the bag  but I quickly turned it around and thanked her for buying them for me for Xmas. Oh the little white lies I have to sow in order to get even more HA kit … ;D

One other quick question, do you know how many watts these bulbs use when they’re ‘off’? I only ask as I’m looking to have three of them in the hallway and on the upstairs landing, with each one independently controlled, so I’ll need the switch powered on all the time.

I admire your style, Chris. You know, of course, that payment will be exacted eventually. :o

I have not measured the standby current but it must be pretty low. When left powered but off, the lamps stay virtually at room-temperature.

I leave mine powered but they do have the useful feature of returning to the last settings when powered off and back on again - apart from the fact that it turns them on. It’s a handy thing for guests who, not unreasonably, tend to hit the wall-switch if they want to turn a room light on or off. Quaint! ::slight_smile:

Thanks Rex

A couple of other things.

While I have lights working via the app, how does the the standalone remote to work, I have zones set up but the dedicated remote does not change anything ?

Should the device icon change in the Vera UI? I have turn the light on/off and have dimmed it but the bulb icon has stayed off/grey ?

You have to enroll the lamps with the remote before it can control them. It is a similar process to enrolllng them with the bridge. Turn the lamp power off, wait 10, turn the power on and press the required group on button within two seconds. Repeat for all lamps.

So you can control the lamp dimming from the plugin but the icon doesn't change? Did you do a browser page refresh? Look on the device's Advanced tab for the variable IconState. It should show the same value as LoadLevelStatus. If not, post the part of the tab with Group at the top.

Hi Rex

It looks like the icon is updating now, which is great
(a few more reloads when I created the other devices has sorted it I think)

I’m loving it !

And the Mrs is quite taken by them too…

I have uploaded a new version of MiLightWU1 - for Mi-Light White lamps. The new version includes some features that were premiered in the MiLightRGBW plugin:

The Sync button or action will re-assert the current plugin settings to re-synchronize a zone that has been adjusted with a remote control or Smartphone app.

The Options variable may be used to set configuration options to reflect user preferences. See MiLightWU1.pdf in the plugin package for details on the options and how to set them.

Hi Rex

I’m trying to create a scene, but when it runs it says invalid scene, please could you have a look and let me know why it might be giving me an error? It’s is probably something obvious.

The goal is to set bed time lighting on the landing (which is already switched on) to 30% blue hue.

UPDATE - Fixed - if I add a request to turn them on first (even though they are already on) then this seems to work. (2nd image)

SetHue requires the lamp to be on (illuminated). SetLoadLevelTarget will switch the lamp on if it’s off. If you reverse the order so SetLoadLevelTarget is before SetHue it should work.

The plugin only knows the state of the lamp by what commands it has previously issued. If the lamp has been controlled with a remote or Smartphone app, actions from scenes may not work as expected. This is the reason for the Sync button or action.
