I plan to buy the new Veraplus to replace (or complement) my Veralite.
My configuration is complex and I don’t imagine to start from zero !
Is there a solution to migrate easily my Veralite configuration to the new box?
If I keep my Veralite may I make the two boxes working together ? Is it useful and how to proceed ?

very similar situation with the same questions. I have a call into Vera about this but have yet to hear anything back. Figured i would search the forums again and looks like i’m not the only one in the same situation.
I came to the forum to find out the exact same thing; is there an easy, painless way of migrating my existing configuration on my Vera Lite to a new Vera Plus. If there is not, is it possible to remotely associate my actors (e.g. Fibaro dimmers built into pattress boxes) with the new controller without having to open every single paddle switch and/or ceiling box?
Paging MCV for more info please There are potential customers here 8)
Kind regards!
As soon aspeople start receiving their plus I am sure there will be many write ups on how to do this.
I can’t imagine it is very different to changing to an Edge and there are already write up’s on that.
I imagine Vera are a bit busy trying to get existing orders ready at the moment.
I plan on taking the alternate approach. I want to start fresh and slowly migrate to the new Plus. Kind of like wiping the hard drive and re-loading Windows and re-installing the needed applications. This tends to streamline the system and remove bloat and waste.
I will exclude some devices and plugins at a time and add them to the Plus. And then monitor the system. Once everything is moved and working on the Plus, I will use the VeraLite as a test bed for new devices.

Hello upgrading my VeraLite to the newly received VeraPlus
The fist part suggested in the wiki worked fine:
Create the new controller, name it
Backup the old controller
Launching the zwave network migration from the old to the new one
But when I tried’to move the backup of the old on the new one it failed.
I guess i will have to issue a ticket to MCV

I think your the first one to even receive a Plus so far. Good luck.
Seems the bug was known (about the restore failing) and I fix the issue buy decompressing and recompressing myself the backup file.
this is the process that I have applied:
http://support.getvera.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1840697-upgrade-from-ui7-on-veralite-or-vera-3
PS: actually I pre-order from the french reseller Domadoo and seems I got it nearly two weeks ahead of the schedule. When I did register the VeraPlus on home.getvera.com it appears that I had to select VeraEdge as no VeraPlus was presented in the list of possible controllers ;D ;D

Please keep us informed of your progress! You are on the “bleeding edge” as they say. A large number of us will have to follow soon.
Got my VeraPlus today, will be watching this thread for updates also
Got my new Veraplus last Saturday. Still in the box…I’am waiting for more Rex before moving from my Veralite to new box. In this winter period (even if not so very cold in Paris !), I want to be very carefull to avoid to jeopardize my heating system.
A question : my Veralie is still in UI5. Do I need to upgrade it to UI7 before migration ?

I think the answer is yes. MIOS wants you to be running UI7 to migrate.
I moved from my Vera3 to VeraPlus over the weekend.
I’m running UI7, and about 95% over everything came over.
Having said that, I encountered the following issues (4 still outstanding);
-
Hue was not recognized. I was hoping Zigbee would talk to my Hue bulbs directly, so I removed the Hue app. No love from Zigbee. I re-installed the Hue app and proceeded to rebuild everything. Hue works as before.
-
All my 4-in-1s needed to be re-installed. Sometimes more than once. I then reset the timeout to “1” (my preference), and I now have my 4-in-1s behaving except for one device which simply needs to be uninstalled and re-installed (I think). I have a 6-in-1 on order to start experimenting.
-
My Aeon embedded door sensor (US edition) all “Can’t find device”. I’ll have to work on those.
Other than these issues, everything came over, the devices, the scenes, the rooms, everything.
I honestly still look for differences, hoping for a jump in performance, hoping to be able to USE Zigbee or Bluetooth, but so far just moving back to “normal”.

Posted on the General → “Vera Plus First results” thread, but figured I’d follow up here.
I had a fully updated VeraLite 7.13 and followed the published VeraEdge UI7 upgrade instructions.
Powered devices, scenes, and apps got ported over seemingly correctly, but as many have noted the battery devices were the main problem even after waiting a day. For some battery devices (EcoLink motion detector) just removing the batteries reconfigured them, but for my door/window sensors this was not the case. I manually tried changing the reconfigure device setting to true (from the default value) for one of the devices, and this actually seemed to maybe help (it was added to the plus and removed from the lite network) but no events ever got triggered on it even though it seemed to have updated which network it was on.
In the end, I was forced to learn how to un-pair and re-pair all my battery devices (and while I was at it, I decided to start from scratch so the VeraPlus would be Node 1 on it’s own network). Google and pdf versions of instruction manuals are your friend – (tap 3 times on the little button, then hold to force a sync for for a FS20Z-1… of course, makes so much sense, definitely don’t sync on a power cycle… ugh).
If you happen to have a MiniMote, be sure not to have it paired with any controller to use it’s standalone exclude functionality, this initially threw me.
After a few hours got all ~30 devices over to a new ground-up network and things seem to be happy. The web interface is still dog slow on the new hardware sadly, but the actual device seems snappy when i interact with it via ALTUI and AutHomationHD.
I can’t even get that far. My Plus shows “Z-Wave: Starting the Z-Wave Network.” and “Zigbee: Failed to start”. I haven’t done anything but update the Vera Plus as the instructions require. Rebooting doesn’t help.
Contacted Vera for support. Hope my box isn’t dead or something.
I should have known this wouldn’t be as easy as it sounded.
Migrated my VeraLite (1.7.760) yesterday using the link from post 7 as a guide. First let my VeraPlus update completely. My apps seem to migrate fine and have worked great. All of my switches and virtual switches seem to be working fine as well as my Schlage Camelot lock. Initially all of my battery motion sensors and window sensors (Ecolink, Monoprice, GoControl) worked fine, but overnight they’ve all started showing “Can’t Detect Device”. I can still access them from my VeraLite, but not the VeraPlus.
Just a heads up on what to expect because I didn’t know what to expect when I started. When you transfer from the VeraLite to the VeraPlus using this process, when completed, you’re left with 2 controllers that have all of the same scenes, apps, devices, startup code, etc. In the process the VeraLite created a Scene Controller_1 device that I assume connects it to the VeraPlus. It seems like all of the devices (even my Schlage lock), with the exception of my battery sensor devices, can now be worked from either controller. Warning - I imagine that if you have scenes on timers, they’ll now fire twice (once from each controller) so you may want to disable some of them.
I’ll probably have to remove and re-add the battery devices to the VeraPlus, but that’ll have to wait until probably this weekend.

I placed a call with support on the Aeotec ZW089 embedded door sensor going into the “Can’t Detect Device” mode. I removed the device, and re-added it. It works until the nightly “heal” (I suspect). This happened twice now since the migration to VeraPlus.
@hmspain - Thanks for the heads up. So removing and adding only works until the next nightly heal? Do you still have the sensor on both controllers?
I disabled my Vera3, but I didn’t have any problems with the sensor on the Vera3.
Unfortunately, the sensor is not one that “Add Device” supports explicitly. You have to add it using the generic Z-Wave.

Vera fixed it last night.
Followed the instructions to copy the Z-Wave network. VeraLite is now the slave, but only about half of my devices show up on the Plus, and it’s sitting there with my door lock saying “Please wait! Getting secure classes” for the last few hours. There’s a mystery Appliance module showing up.
Not sure what I should do at this point. Install my backup file to the plus? Wait and see if it works itself out? Reboot? Just factory reset everything and start from scratch?
