I have a Makita CM101 drapery motor that’s working well with a supplied IR remote. I’m looking to add an ESI ABMHZ to control it. The CM101 has three RJ11 ports for accessories… one is for a timer, one for wall control, and I think one is reserved for sending signals over to a slave (child) unit.
As far as I’m concerned, with a correctly-wired RJ11 RJ22, I could probably just plug the ABMHZ into the CM101’s timer port. However, I don’t have the pinout. There’s a Makita ZZWS10 wall switch that would tell me… or I guess I could just plug an RJ11 RJ22 in and short the wires until I figure out what does what.
Does anyone have this configuration?
we used to have a Makita sample in the office, have not seen it in years but from memory:
- I recall the Makita is a low-voltage motor with a built-in transformer, the ABMHZ is a 120VAC motor controller
- the RJ connectors are not dry contact inputs but carry a digital signal (the same as the IR code); try to short the wires as you said, if you are able to get open/stop/close, then I am wrong, but the good news is we have a Z-Wave to dry contact motor controller that you will be able to use.

This is more info than I’ve gotten elsewhere, so thanks… I believe you’re probably right, the Makita is likely a LV motor. I don’t know about the signals for the Makita, but you’re right about the ABMHZ and I didn’t think of that.
I have a bunch of dry contact modules (I forget the model #), but they’re way too bulky to try to use two or three for this application. I’ll shoot you an email, thanks.
Hey there,
I think I am in a similar boat but after searching for over a year I was able to source a few Makita Contact Closure Interface Model ZZ631103-A that are the interface for the makita drapes. I am attaching the scanned operating instructions and diagrams that came with the units. They say they can operate with a X-10 UM506 interface but I am trying to find a zwave interface that could do the same thing. I am only looking for basic operation open and close so I am hoping someone could help out directing me how to do this and what zwave module to use. I have the shades and motors and everything to install, in fact I have them on a rf remote right now. Any assistance would be great for this newbie.
Brett
I would love to use something that is already tested with Vera like Fibaro Roller Shutter 2 FGRM-222 but not sure if or how it would work with this setup.
I am looking for a Makita Contact Closure Interface Model ZZ631103-A as well for a project. If anyone has one in any condition please let me know.
