I got my Vera2 for use in my new house a few months ago. At first, everything was ok. But when I started adding more and more devices, whenever I clicked the save button after configuring something, it took longer and longer for Vera to come back. In the end, it took several hours every time I changed the configuration before I could reach the UI again. It just kept saying “server busy” or something.
Since last week, I haven’t been able to reach the UI at all. It just says “Loading data in progress” and then after a while “Data not loading?” with some options.
I ssh’ed to the box and when I check /tmp/log/cmh/LuaUPnP.log, it keeps saying “LuaUPnP Terminated with Exit Code: 137”.
I filed a service request (#8483) with Mios but all they told me was that they are working on a new firmware. It was maybe supposed to be released before Christmas but apparently it was not. They won’t tell me when they will release it and if it’s likely to solve my problem.
If anybody on this forum could help, it would be much appreciated. I’m getting pretty desperate. I convinced my wife to spent thousands of euros on z-wave devices and now nothing works. Hard to explain to her and very frustrating. I’m very disappointed in support.
I never got an answer from Tech Support so I went in as root and restored /etc/cmh/orig to /etc/cmh. After reconfiguring all my devices, it all seems to work now. Just thought I would let you all know.
We knew that users reported that Ergy causes their Veras to become slow so we notified the Ergy developers about this, which resulted in versions 0.98 and 0.99 of the plugin, that should have improved the performance. The Ergy developers couldn’t reproduce it, so they couldn’t find what exactly causes the slowdown. They are looking into this right now.

Hi Mcvflorin,
Any news on the bug?
What was the reason and were the developers able to fix it?
The Ergy developers said that version 1.1 of the plugin fixes all the slowdown issues.
We’re happy to report that this update, along with several changes we’ve made to the application will solve the vast majority of issues we’ve seen reported on the MiOS forums, to your CSRs, and through our trouble ticketing system. In addition, the application includes automatic integration for TED and Blue Line meters!

I am not going to take my chances right now. I have too much on my plate. Besides I do not have any whole house energy monitoring devices to test. I’ll let others play in the deep end and report back. I have heard a few say that things are working much better.
I’ll try it tonight, since I have an isolated Vera 3 unit along with the Brultech Plugin.
Hopefully they’ve fixed their code to use the standard MiOS Interface for the data collected by these independent plugins. From their last post on the topic, it sounded like they were going out and building their own, one-driver-at-a-time…
ok, tried to get the plugin to work. I can happily see my Brultech Data in UI5, and can enable the Ergy Plugin, but that’s about it.
[ul][li]Reset Password for Ergy didn’t send me an email (not even in the Spam box)[/li]
[li]Create new account indicates my account is already created, in case I got the credentials incorrect[/li]
[li]The ERGY Settings tab takes about 30 seconds to come up, showing “Please wait…” whilst it’s doing this, then “Ergy Plugin Activated” on every usage[/li]
[li]The Power Meters, Watt Meters and Temperature Sensors Tabs that then display are empty.[/li][/ul]
So it still doesn’t seem ready for any form of use. Perhaps those with one-off Z-Wave Power measurement devices will be ok, but anyone who’s used to using the standard/local charts of UI4/cp.mios.com will be disappointed with this.
Given that the previous/default UI4/cp.mios.com functionality doesn’t exist in UI5 without ERGY, this seems like a fairly large regression in terms of overall power monitoring/management solution.
Florin,
The Flash charts (“Usage” tab) should be made as the first option, so that user’s aren’t fooled into thinking they need to use ERGY, signup for [another, non-linked] account, etc.
Currently clicking on the ERGY functionality gives “Login to to your ERGY Account”, not “Login to your MIOS Account”. That’s not particularly clean, and in my case simply doesn’t work (since ERGY’s Reset Password, … doesn’t)
Perhaps it’s time to put some energy into @Chris’s DataMine solution, I know I don’t plan to use ERGY for Production given their contract, and the amount/type of data being given to a 3rd party.
BTW: Where are the code/plugin hooks to replace the components of the Energy Tabs? I’d like to completely remove ERGY, and replace it with a souped up version of Chris’s Graphing Plugin (and give it the same prominence currently given to ERGY which so far has never worked with the functionality of UI4).
I’ve moved the discussion on ERGY’s handling of the data out to this thread, since it’s OT wrt the original posting on stability issues caused by the first-generation ERGY Plugin: http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,10954.0.html
