Lowes Iris Utilitech Water Leak Detector - Everspring

For those that are interested in adding leak detectors. The Lowe’s Iris Utilitech branded leak detectors are in fact rebadged Everspring devices. They work well and show up as Everspring devies in the device Manufacture field.

Utilitech Water Leak Detector White Indoor Flood Sensor
Item #: 422362 | Model #: TST01-1

The best part is that the normal price of these is less than half the price of the Everspring versions.

Hope this helps.

Wow, great tip niharmehta ! The funny part is nowhere in the specification Zwave is mentioned …

Thank You! I had noticed these and had been trying to find out if they were ZWave or zigbee. The package at lowes lists nothing. $30 is a pretty decent price. My water heater and Washer/Dryer are next to each other in the garage so one of these will take care of all 3.

The Lowes units are definitely Everspring Zwave. See attached screen shot.

thanks @niharmehta … great find.

Picked up 2 today. Back of package does have the Z-Wave logo. Great price as cheapest I could find them was $49.95 on Fleabay. had a gift card and a 10% off code to make it even sweeter.

Were you guys able to add the water leak detector without any issues ? I just tried to pair my device and Vera added it as a Motion Sensor. Its doesnt show the Manufacturer Name as Everspring as shown in the screenshot shown above. Is there any additional setup that I need to do ?

Thanks for the help.

First associate it with the Vera using the Vera GUI or the + button.
After it associates, close it up, and leave it next to the vera for at least an hour. The next time the Leak detector wakes up, it should finish.

Otherwise, you can keep waking it up by pushing the button under the back cover and trying a manual configure… This can work, but I found it a bit unreliable.

I learned that with a little patience everything started working. . Once you see it has properly configured, move it to its final destination and update the neighbors.

Thanks. I tried the option to push the sync button and it worked.

Thanks again.

I’m doing a research project on home automation systems and am looking to talk with a few “power-users”, which many of you seem to be. Will you please shoot me an email if you’d be willing to have a brief discussion about your systems and your perspective on the features or functions you’d like to see in home automation in the future? Thanks in advance for your replies!

Is anyone else getting low battery life? I’m killing batteries in about 3-4 months.

Mines been up since October last year with no issue and showing batteries at 80%

Sent from my iPhone

Mine are still on original batteries. Make sure your back cover is on and the wake time is not too low. It may be waking too often.

Back cover is on.

Suggestions on timeout setting? Mine was set to 1800, I just made it 3600

I have wakeup interval at 1800 and poll interval at 10800.

I have seen with other devices that you may need to remove it (full exclusion) and re-include it. Sometimes things get corrupted.

I don’t have the directions anymore. How do you get it to pair?

  1. Unscrew the back cover of the sensor. You’ll see a white button near the batteries.
  2. Put Vera in Inclusion mode and move the sensor close to Vera.
  3. Press and release the white button on the back of the sensor (you may have to tap it three times rapidly, if the one tap doesn’t work).
  4. The Vera inclusion light will blink rapidly and then return to a slow blink.
  5. Check your MiOS dashboard and you should see the new sensor appear.

If it fails to appear, try excluding the sensor. Repeat the steps above, but in step 2, put Vera in Exclusion mode.
Then try to include the device again.
