I need a good indoor camera to cover my great room. It doesn’t have to have PTZ functionality although thats always a bonus if it does. In fact, from what searching i’ve done the dropcam catches my eye the most due to it’s great video/picture quality and great coverage angle - but as far as i know it’s a poor option since it doesn’t play well with the veraedge (am i wrong on this?). I’m also not thrilled with their force cloud storage if one wants to record video.
wired or wireless is fine. I do also have POE capability if that matters.
i should probably add that the point of hte camera will be to watch the dog in the great room and to provide coverage on anyone entering the house through the back door.
these look like a really nice cam but the price is really high. I’ve been using Samsung SmartCams SNHE6411BN (Costco version, sales had them at $99) and overall pretty good… not perfect but way better than Foscam and similar cams I’ve used… and I’ve used many.
If I could get those Hikvision for $100, I’d be on it.

How does this work with BlueIris and why are the reviews so bad on amazon?
I know costco had a deal but apples to apples, amazon to amazon prices are the same and review count is the same but reviews are way different.
Also 3MP POE vs. 2MP (and reviews say that its not 1080p or 2MP recording only when viewing live) No POE.
The Logitech Circle looks interesting… Love the 30 second playback feature if it works… of course who knows if you can use it with a vera since it’s not out yet and from what i can gather they haven’t yet updated it to support any kind of recording.
oh and i decided to go ahead and get a 2.8mm version of the hikvision off of amazon for $170 (figured 2.8 gets me more or less the field of view of a dropcam)… I didn’t want to risk getting a Chinese version by trying to buy one at $100. It seems like it touches on all my needs and then some. The PIR functionality should be interesting to play with and i’m glad that it has two way microphone and POE. It should be fun to play with it tomorrow…
