Lockwood (ASSA ABLOY - Yale) Wireless Digital Deadbolt - Australia

The Lockwood Wireless Digital Deadbolt that is sold in Australia is a ASSA ABLOY product that is the same as the Yale Real Living Touchscreen.

For a while now there have been reports on the internet relate to security issues such as the YouTube paperclip hack as shown in the link below.

I recently contacted ASSA ABLOY support about this issue and to asked them do they provide the replacement part as they do for the Yale in the USA. They do not but sent a locksmith out to my residence to inspect the locks and subsequently rectify the vulnerability that was present.

For those that are interested, the post below explains the fix that is applied.

Hi Brientim & forum regulars,

This question is by all means open to everyone but it has an Australian flavour. As a fellow Aussie who is interested in the Yale Real Living product I’d like hear your feedback on the following:

I’m considering to purchase the lock from the U.S. and the Australian model VeraLite unit. Separately, I’ve also noted the paperclip hack and fix.

Thanks & best regards,

David

Sorry for the late reply.

They were purchased from the than Smarthome.com.au and luckily before that other issue.
The ZWave frequencies are different and you cannot be mixed without having multiple Vera’s.
The lock are the same other than brand but the ZWave models are frequencies matched to the region they are sold.

Are all current Lockwood locks free of the paper-clip problem? Of it that something that needs to be check with the distributor?

Also will the lock work via Z-Wave relay, as I suspect the location of mine is too far away for direct connection to my Vera Lite.

When they performed the work, they stated all were rectified that were at locksmiths and any newly manufactured
