Linear 3-way operation

Has anyone got the Linear WS15Z and WT00Z working in a 3-way configuration? Linear does not supply any connection diagram with the products. I call Tech Support and they told me I have to get a “Minimote” to get it to work. I have the switches working 2-way. I have GE/Jasco switches in 3-way mode. I guess I will have to get more GE switches (they provide diagrams).

I got it working. I can turn off/on the light from both locations. I can also dim the lights, but the status is not updating. I can turn off the light from either switch, but it still say it is on on the device page. The only time it changes, is if I do it from the device page. Has anyone else had this problem?

The manuals included with these switches and online do indeed contain wiring diagrams. I have attached my own diagram below, it seems to be better understood by many users.

As you have discovered, the main switch and remote switch are not directly connected in 3-way configurations. Each switch is individually wired to a mains circuit as indicated in their respective manuals. The 3-way connection is wireless(Z-Wave) and is achieved by creating an association on the WT00Z-1 to the WS15Z-1. Linear recommends/supports performing this association with the Aeon Minimote controller, however the Minimote is not at all necessary as Vera and many other Z-Wave controllers are perfectly capable of performing the association. Here’s one of my old posts on how to perform the association with Vera.

Due to their lack of a feature called Instant Status, when these switches are activated manually, they do not notify Vera of any state change. For this reason the Vera UI will not indicate the change immediately. However, Vera does become aware of the switch’s state when Vera polls the switch. Polling occurs at varying times, depending on many factors but mostly Z-Wave network size. In most cases, polling occurs approximately every minute and rarely more than two minutes. So, if you give it a minute or two, the Vera UI will accurately reflect the state of the switch, even after it has been changed manually.
