Liftmaster 828LM Garage Door Opener Internet Gateway pairing to Vera

Can it be done?

I’m looking into replacing my garage door opener unit and the new ones don’t work with just a contact wire. People are telling me that I will loose the function of my current opener through my Vera system since it works off a relay switch. The new systems currently work with a Internet gateway system available, does/or has anyone done or know how to connect this device with vera, through an app or something?

Whats the model number of the garage door unit your using?

I too have a Vera + this new LiftMaster Internet Gateway (with that new LiftMaster Garage Door opener). It’s cool that I can use my iPhone to open/close/monitor my garage door, but I don’t like it for the fact that I can’t control / manage it through my Vera anymore.

Since my previous set up (connecting the garage door opener wires to a dry relay contact switch) no longer works on my new LiftMaster, I ended up cracking open my LiftMaster remote control and then soldered the wires to the board, basically to simulate the button press when I issue a momentary On command to the Dry Contact.

This has been working pretty well for me. The Open and Close commands are instant (unlike the LM Gateway which flashes lights and gives you audio warning before closing the door.) But I don’t worry about the warning too much.

Finally, to give credit to where it’s due, here is the original link that I got the information from: http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,17934.0.html

I also have one of those “control panel” type LCD wall switches for my opener. I had to do the same thing and open it up and solder a z-wave dry contact switch to the circuit board inside to simulate hitting the actual button on the panel. It works great and haven’t had any problems. Mine is not an internet gateway one, just a normal garage door opener with a fancy wall switch.
