Hi,
I know there are plenty of topics on dimming LED lights, I just wanted to share my experience and I’m relatively pleased with the results
scenario:
1 x Fibaro FGD - 211 v2.2 controlling 4 x Philips MASTER LEDspot MV 5.5w GU10 (55x50mm) (22watts total)
1 x Fibaro FGD - 211 v2.2 controlling 8 x Philips MASTER LEDspot MV 5.5w GU10 (55x50mm) (44 watts total)
Initial observation: no flickering with default device settings (20=110, 12=99, 13=2) but the dim level got to it’s max at approx 60-70%
I found that setting the variable 20 to 134 - 138 did nothing (there was no flicker anyway) apart from affect the min dim level (10% turned the LED off whereas 20 = 110 10% illuminated the LED).
So I have the following settings that appear at first glance (an hour or so) to be stable and give me full dim range from min to max:
20 = 110
12 = 60
13 = 2
note: the above are 3-wire connected with no by-pass FGB001. I’ve tried cheaper brands of LED GU10’s in the past and had major flickering problems so it’s branded from now on!
Hope this helps someone.
I’ve only just noticed (it’s now dark so I can see the light levels better) that with both dimmer modules set the same, the one that has the 8 LED lamps does not dim to the same level as the one with the 4 LED lamps. Guess I need to cutomise each module based on the load levels or try putting a by-pass module on the one with the 4 lamps to increase its load.
update: I noticed last night that with both dimmer modules (DIMMER A with 4 lamps @22w and DIMMER B with 8 lamps @44w) set to the same parameters the minimum dim level on DIMMER A was a lot lower than that of DIMMER B and there was minor flicker on DIMMER B
Why would the load level affect the minimum dim level?
still no idea WHY the minimum dim leves should be affected by load and failed to adjust DIMMER A and DIMMER B so as they behave the same so decided to put all LED GU10’s (66w) onto one dimmer module with the caveat that If I ever go back to halogen, the max wattage would be 35w/lamp.
To get a decent minimup dim level I changed param 20 to 136 and had to increase param 13 to 20 to prevent the lights from turning off completely.
So now I have a working system
20 = 136
12 = 99
13 = 20
