Kwikset Z-Wave Light Stays Solid

Just installed Kwikset Deadbolt… Z-Wave light stays 100% solid and won’t turn off… tried resetting it using the “take batteries out and press program 3 times” trick - this lock came with no documentation and there is not any available documentation online that even says a single word about Z-Wave or “Home Connect” other than “wait for the light to go off then press the B button”

Well, the light doesn’t go off ! Any ideas? See no one has ever brought this up in the forums before … am I the only one to ever have this issue in the history of this product? Wow…

P.S: the “over verification” in this forum is kind of annoying - make me answer these crazy questions every time I post? I had to do it when I register… why would I have to do it every time I post now?

The verification is for new members with less than 25 posts. This is to prevent spam and other issues on the forum. There are many posts about this and posted in the FAQ here: http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,7339.0.html

Are you positive that you have the z-wave board in the lock? It should be a daughter board that can be removed. It sits in front of the battery pack:

It looks like this when pulled out:

No one has brought this up to the forum as it may not have ever happened to anyone. Verify that you have the z-wave board and that it is seated correctly.

Yes I have the Daughter board installed.

Kwikset installation instructions, though none mentions the light staying on solid

Correct - no support, no documentation, Z-Wave problems, can’t pair, can’t do anything - this sucks… never had a worse experience with buying a product… how are they going to release a product with ZERO DOCUMENTATION other than “press the button to pair” - WHAT THE HELL!?

If you are looking for documentation on how to pair with Vera. Than you need to read up on how to pair a z-wave device with Vera. Kwikset is not responsible with creating documentation on how to pair their lock with a specific controller.

Have you seen this page?

Ummm, yes… I read every single word that was provided by either MCV or KS.

From Kwikset: “Yeah the Z-Wave products in general are pretty bad. Z-Wave just isn’t a reliable or good technology. Have you considered our Zigbee option? Those are definitely a much better solution, Z-Wave isn’t the right way to go anymore. You should return that lock and buy our ZB version or look into our new Bluetooth solution which has some awesome new features.”

I don’t agree with that statement, but it’s pretty crappy that is what Kwikset Tech Support is telling people. I am just goign to assume this lock is broken and hope that replacing it will fix the problem! Will keep informed.
