An FYI for people who end up getting one of these. I just fought for a while to try to get my 910 assembled and working because it was configured for LH and I needed it to be RH. there was no documentation with it that tells you how to reverse its function and I was extremely frustrated with it, digging through forums, etc. I finally found out the procedure and figured I would share to help anyone else in this predicament.
Open the unit to get to the battery cage
remove battery cage
push and hold lock button
reinsert battery cage
count to 5, release lock button then press lock again immediately
This will swap the functional direction of a lock. I did this without the lock installed in the door because it was binding up and shutting down the lock trying to run in the wrong direction. If you swap directions on a working lock in a door you will bind up your lock and it will shut down! I hope this was helpful
Sorry but you didn’t read the directions, and this has been brought up several times on this site. Also you need to do this with it on the door not on the bench so it can test the full throw.
Instructions found here. Page #5 “IMPORTANT: DO NOT SKIP THE FOLLOWING STEP. LOCK WILL NOT BE ABLE TO OPERATE PROPERLY”
All in caps and bold and a Box around it. I’m assuming you didn’t have or look that the install instructions.
Everything can be broken. Think that is the only lock that he can open? Email him.
I can get into a ton of houses with nothing more then a rock threw a window… But people still install windows. Police still force entry into houses with any deadbolts on them.

This info is also found by using the search button on the forum. I came up with this thread. http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,12209.msg89049.html#msg89049

I just fought for a while to try to get my 910 assembled and working because it was configured for LH and I needed it to be RH. there was no documentation with it that tells you how to reverse its function and I was extremely frustrated with it, digging through forums, etc.
Any lock can be compromised. All you need is time and patience.
Locks weren’t made to keep people out; they were made to keep an honest man honest. But, like any good security plan, you want to use layered security - signs, locks, alarms, motion detection, cameras. Most of it is to deter anyway. If someone sees you have all this stuff, they’re going to move on to an easier target.

Quite true. I always grew up with the saying “locks are for honest people”. I build large commercial low voltage systems that include security and access control and that is part of the driving force in a lot we do. I could build my house out like some of the prisons i’ve done… but that is $3000 locks on $7000 doors…and a window or a wall is still an option to get in. I’m just playing with the 910 since i could get it cheap, its on the door to my home office…internal door.
I did several searches on here and the only one even somewhat related that I got was one where a guy got the wrong bolt included in his set.
Did you notice that was me? Even in that post we talk about this. Because this is normally the problem but in my case I was doing this but it still wasn’t working. I bought all of my locks as store returns but I still got the installation instructions. I’m assuming the instructions you were reading were not installation instructions but just an operation manual for use after the device is installed.
Did it show anything about how to bolt it on the door? Or just how to add pin codes?
If you bought from someone similar to where I bought mine could explain why some stuff missing. I even had wrong parts in the box.
After knowing the procedure, i understand what you typed… not having directions that told me that was necessary, and your post not actually saying something about it being a necessary step…i just kind of skimmed over that part. Looking back on it now that I know that is part of the procedure, I see it and understand.
The directions I got are on a folded up sheet of paper. It shows how to bolt the lock to the door…and not pinch the wire, etc. After finding the procedure online where someone said it in another post (another forum) I even went back and check the directions I got again, and again, to see if if I was just stupid and missed it. It was not there.
The guy posting on that other forum also mentioned it was not in his instructions and he was doing a defective part return when the customer service rep asked if he had done that…
I was only putting it up here because I didnt see it searching here. It was probably because I didnt use the correct key words…but when you dont have the instructions, you dont know what they call it. I was searching for “kwikset 910” along with “backwards” “defective” “binding” “stuck” on here and was not finding what I was looking for. I had already started to do a return on it when I bounced around online and found what to do.
I had to do this procedure on bench…i couldnt install the lock because the motor side keyway was upside down…too far rotated to be able to install the outside key lock right side up.
