Kwikset (or similar) inside portion only?

Greetings

I live in an apartment that uses Kwikset keys, and I’m looking at upgrading to Z-Wave/Vera.
Since it’s an apartment I’d like to do this without changing the exterior appearance of the door (IE no keypads).

Ideally, I’d use the Kwikset Z-Wave lock system, but only the inside part. I’d install the inside part as normal, but for the key cylinder / outside part, keep the existing hardware.

Does anyone know if this is possible? Or at least, will the Kwikset lock function without the external keypad connected?

For anyone else who stumbles upon this- yes it appears it is possible

According to that guy’s review, he used the interior portion of the lock with his existing Kwikset cylinder and outside hardware, and it worked fine.
