Does anyone have any experience with Liquidationlocks.com? $99 of Kwikset with zwave chip.
I have 5. All are perfect and I believe are brand new. I had a problem with one of them (mainly because I’m a man and didn’t read some directions) and emailed him about it. He immediately sent another lock to me AND provided me with a postage paid return label for the old one. Turns out there was nothing wrong with it and I kept it too. He is A+ in my book and I will be ordering 4 more shortly.
Thank you.
Thanks for the link. I bought four yesterday, and they will be here on Tuesday. I ended up buying from their eBay store versus their website just to provide a few more layers of protection…just in case. Their feedback on eBay was 100% so I doubt there are any issues.
Kwikset is now selling an updated version of the z-wave-enabled deadbolt, the 914TRL ZW xx. It’s thinner, not as wide and the inside cover is now secured with a screw. Each number now has its own button. It’s quieter than the previous model, but I prefer hearing the grinding sound, so I know the bolt is moving. MSRP $229.
I heard they fixed this, but not sure how to tell which version people are selling…
Since their both smart-key it applies right? I put a Shlage on the front door and wanted to get a deadbolt for the rear and smartkey would of been nice so both backups are the same key. Just not sure after running into this video…
I just ordered that new kwikset 914. Will let you know my thoughts when I get it.
I received my locks that I ordered yesterday, and the two I installed worked perfectly. I’ll install the other two sometime this week. Again, thanks for the link. This saved me some $$$.
I returned my kwiksets and went with schlage because of how easy it is to bump open those dumb smart keys.
+1
I seriously researched the z-wave electronic lock market before making a choice, the Kwiksets, Yales, and other brands are only ANSI grade 2 secure, the Schlage’s are ANSI Grade 1. Plus the Kwiksets (at least the ones they are liquidating) have those 5-button keypad which cuts down your pin code combinations. Labeling them 1 thru 10 is a gimmick. Notice the new Kwikset 914 locks finally have a true 1 thru 10 keypad.
I looked into the Schlage but it appeared looking thru all of the threads here that they were not very reliable in setting up thru Vera. I agree, they are better quality but are people still having issues with the Schlage?
I have two Schlages BE469s on my house. No issues. As long as they are the latest and greatest.
I ordered a Kwikset 910 with Z Wave for my front door from liquidationlocks.com last week. One ore two blemishes on mine, but nothing by kids wouldn’t have done within a week. Well worth getting it $100 cheaper than everywhere else. Plan to order more for my other doors.
I have the FE599X and haven’t had any issues. SmartKey sounds nice, but I’d rather carry an extra spare key then deal with the bump issue. I’m going to get another FE599x off “used” section on amazon, where you can find blemished ones like what Liquidation is offering for $130-150.
Good to know. Thanks.
Ordered the 915 last week and didn’t see post. But install was fine. More than likely I’ll order 2 more locks at this price can’t be beat.
Need to program this evening, any tips on programming?
I ordered the 915 too. Sadly the door I was trying to install on was 2" thick. The 915 would not fit.
I don’t profess to be a lock expert but from what I know, the 910’s and other smartkey locks are protected against bumping. What they are not protected against is lock forcing.
If I am wrong please correct me.
This is a big difference because honestly, any retail lock <$300 is going to be beatable with enough force.
I posted my experience with Liquidation locks in another topic but I thought it might do some good in this thread.
