Hi - could use some expert advice. I’ve never been that strong with programming scenes, triggers, etc., and especially Luau code.
Here’s my situation - I have a non-central dehumidifier that I didn’t technically “duct” into my HVAC ducting, but I place it along with a new large return duct in the basement so (hopefully) its exhaust goes right into the HVAC return. . .
It runs around 10-11 amps, and though it has an electronic on/off control panel it reverts to last mode running when power is interrupted and resumed, making it a candidate for a z-wave switch. I just got a “heavy duty” appliance switch for it.
I have the trane z-wave thermostat and mostly end up controlling the temp manually (either via thermostat unit, or iphone Vera app) and the fan is usually in auto or cycle.
What automation steps would be necessary to turn on humidifier switch only when:
- it is 68F or above outside air temp (or 50% humidity?) [I have both weather underground polling and also 4:1 sensor outside that I could get this info from, also dehumidifier itself has a humidistat control in it that I usually set at 50%-ish]
AND
- when thermostat has told fan to run, whether as part of a cooling program or just cycling the fan, etc.
That second part if kind of key to maximizing my efficiency since it is, for all intents and purposes, supplying the whole house with dehumidified air.
Any insight or ideas would be kindly appreciated. . .go easy on me, still sort of a newb with this Vera stuff!
Thx
