if the Vera is not doing any updates and it is stable (not randomly rebooting) the only problem you could have is your internet connection, and if that goes I really doubt Vera’s support team would be able to help with that, it would be of an ISP issue. so its not a necessity its just a remote ssh connection. i would leave it off
