Issues with v4

I tried to post this before, but it hasn’t shown up – so assuming I messed up. :slight_smile:

My unit auto-updated to Vera Alerts v4, I followed the instructions to go to Profiles and Notification Configuration and hitting save, but still no joy – it still says that it’s not initialized.

I’ve tried removing the plugin/device, reinstalling the plugin to no avail…Is it possible there’s a bug in v4 that’s causing this? I have tried removing and re-adding profiles, too – but I am now getting a “Invalid service/action/device” when I try to put things into the profile and tab between fields.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

After installing/deleting ANY plugin in Vera you must REFRESH your browser.

Typically this is done with Control F5 on many browsers. If in doubt … close your browser and open it again!

I’ll give that a try! :slight_smile:

A forced refresh solved the invalid device errors, thank you!

The alerts/notification are not being sent, though. I’m not even seeing an connection attempt on port 25 of my SMTP server. Any other thoughts?

Thanks!

There was also a bug with MAIL … for those that did NOT REQUIRE SSL … I have a fix going out today for this issue.
Currently I am using SSL even if you say you do not need it.

Ah OK that explains it. Was doing port 25 in the clear. :slight_smile: I’ll wait for your update – thanks so much!

Hi slightly off topic, after reading about the auto update, can be disable. I have search thro vera can’t find how disable auto update

The email bug fix, and the pushover bug fix are now available as Version 4.1

@jolly1
You can turn off AutoUpdate for an App:
Goto APPS, select the specific app, and uncheck the AutoUpdate.
However there have been lots of strange behavior relative AutoUpdate … I am not sure if/how all of this actually works.

It appears to be sending in the clear again – awesome! But my tests when I checkmark a user and the profile appear to be going to vera@home.com (not in my config anywhere)…

When I put an email address into the recipient box in the Alerts test it works fine – but if I choose a “user” (checkbox) it sends to vera@home.com as do all the other notifications that hook into VeraAlerts. I wonder if you left something hardcoded in this build with vera@home.com in the TO: part of the SMTP transaction: :slight_smile:

Yep,
There are last chance settings for From/To/Subject … they are Vera@Home.com, Vera@Home.com, and Vera Notification respectively.

From Highest Priority to lowest priority are:
{to=XXX} {from=YYY} {subject=ZZZ}
{To=XXX} {From=YYY} {Subject=ZZZ}
Profile TO Value Profile FROM Value Profile Subject Value
Vera@Home.com Vera@Home.com Vera Notification

I think I follow – any ideas why it would be sending all my notifications TO vera@home.com even though all my recipients are setup as they were before with valid email addresses?

How many people are you sending Emails to ?

One.

I think I have fixed it – I cleared out and re-setup the profile from scratch. Perhaps it got munged somehow.

I know what happened …

  1. I could of done a better job upgrading those that use email.
  2. It uncovered a bug … that I knew about, but I did not think would effect anyone until I changed a profile.
    I do not think you originally had the “To” option is that correct ?

Correct, it was pulling from the usernames setup in the rest of the vera. When you explained the home@vera.com was a fallback, I figured something had changed, so I forced the To. The behaviour has changed, then? It seemed intuitive pulling from the vera definitions, imho. :slight_smile:

I haven’t said so – but thank you so much for your apps, your hard work and your patience! I’m a longtime lurker and you’re always helping folks! :slight_smile:

After automatic update to ver.4 I cant get VA to send process notifications.
I get internal alerts and I can send test.
I only use it for phone.
I have chosen VA-mobile profile and I have put in new “over rides” in notification config, and saved.
Anything I have done wrong ?
Please help
CE

Have you checked the Assignments in the Settings page.
Assign the profile(s) you want to the specific Vera User.

I have asigned to VA-mobil
And I get internal messages and when I send a text.
I have tryed to check and uncheck procesnotifications (it could be hanging).

If all else fails please EMAIL me the output from:

http://Your.Vera.IP.Address:3480/data_request?id=user_data

Note this will have personal info, like passwords to cameras, or notification account ids, nest passwords, …
You may want to sanitize.
