Issues With Combination Switch

Hi all,

A little help needed.

I am trying to set up a simple combination switch, I have UI7, VERAPlus, downloaded Virtual Swithc and Combination Switch. When I click configure on the combination switch to add the the virtual switches as I understand is the correct method, I get “failed to get plugins” message.

Any help appreciated!

I have 2 combination switches - No One Home and Power Outage. Each combination switch looks at Virtual Switches.

So here is how I set up No One Home:

  1. iPhone Locator (2 instances) turns on a Virtual Switch for each iPhone. One is Don Home and the other is Thea Home. So when we are both home, each Virtual Switch is on. When we are both gone, Don Home and Thea Home is off.
  2. No One Home is on when both Virtual Switches are off.

Similarly, Power Outage is set up:

  1. I have 2 Virtual Switches setup for 2 UPS’s. 1 is on the main desktop computer UPS, the other is on the LAN UPS. When either UPS is on battery, the Virtual Switch is turned on.
  2. The Combination Switch is on when both UPS Virtual Switches are on.

In both cases, when the Combination Switch is on or off, it triggers a scene.

So make sure you have Virtual Switch installed and working. Then you can install Combination Switch and configure it.

The most common cause for this message is trying to configure a Combination Switch from outside the LAN. That includes having the setting “Secure my Vera” turned on. You’ve got to be on the same LAN as Vera, directly connected to it, to configure a Combination Switch.

Once it’s configured it will work even if you turn “Secure my Vera” back on.
