Isn't it FINALLY time for HomeKit integration?

With the new HomePod announced today and coming out soon, isn’t it time for Vera to be ahead of the curve and add HomeKit integration out of the box through a firmware update?

Are you guys working on this?
Do you catch the drift that’s about to happen with the Homepod?

If Apple will let them play.

Isn’t it only about buying a license to use HomeKit in their products?

And of course integrating it after that…

I have a Homekit smoke alarm and Homebridge setup on a NAS. I can see Vera on Homebridge but cannot control anything. Of course, Homebridge does not talk to Vera.

Yes, I know, I tried several alternatives offered here but nothing really worked. I could control my home kit stuff but usually just once and then it’s over.
Or it would lose the status of a lamp from one control device to another. There was no feedback talk going on. It would be really nice to have Vera be HomeKit compatible. As HomeKit is about to take over in case anyone was still in doubt here.

I believe there is a hardware component to homekit as well. I use homebridge. I have no trouble controlling anything.

Which one do you use? There are several out there. And on what hardware?

I only know of the one homebridge package. GitHub - homebridge/homebridge: HomeKit support for the impatient.
I run it in a VM. I’ve ran it on a Pi, Ubuntu, and FreeBSD.

Been running the Homekit Vera bridge myself for over a year. I even contributed some code to it…

Been working well although for my own use, I eliminated some device types from being reported by the bridge. It seems like the Homekit limits how many devices a bridge can report.

These work arounds and hacks are unacceptable substitutes for real integration with Homekit. Apple is an 800 pound gorilla who will each Vera’s lunch if Vera does not get with the program. I believe in the Vera environment and hope that Vera gets working seriously on this, soon…
