I’m exploring to start builing a more advanced home automation system.
Currently, it only exists of KAKU light switches, dimmers and a sunscreen control.
I’m planning on the following steps:
1
Control my central heating in such a way, that all rooms can be controlled separately, and with timeschedules. This is a challenge, as I have a central control thermostat in the living room, and I do not want to change the setup of my Remeha Avanta to a weatherdependant setup.
2
Central control & A touch screen to control it all
3
Possibility of control with my smartphone (Android)
4
Central control of the KAKU system to be able to control everything with a single device
5
A future switch from KAKU to ZWAVE should be possible to achieve less problems with connections etc.
For this, I have the following in mind:
1 HVAC: I encountered only two ‘solutions’: zwave and FHT. The zwave seems to be the lesser one, as the thermostat available seems not to work too well. The FHT solution appears quite stable and trustworthy (information from forums and ELV)
2 Control: VERA Light and an Android Tablet as touchscreen (friend of mine imports Android Tablets from China, so I have access to reliable but cheap tablets because he tests them all) ![]()
To Control FHT with VERA it seems that there are solutions with FHEM, altough I haven’t dug into this yet.
3 Smartphone: should be possible through Vera
4 Control of the KAKU devices should be possible with the RFxcom transceiver and VERA.
5 should be no problem when using Vera
My question is: how difficult is it to set up the combination of VERA with FHEM to control FHT and VERA with RFXcom to control KAKU? I have little programming experience and I figure I would have to learn everything if there is no driver/coding available to combine VERA with these two.
Is there maybe a different setup that I might have missed?
Thanks a lot for your advise.
