Is this an option to get fans working with vera?

Does that look like an option to get my ceiling fans working with Vera or is there a better option out there?

I purchased this; I have a vera plus. I thought insteon was native to vera but I guess I have to buy a PowerLinc Modem (2413U) for Vera to control insteon devices does that sound right??

Is there a better option to control my fan/light from Vera?

Yes, the modem will allow both the signals through the wiring and RF signals (if you get a dual band modem) to reach Vera through its USB port. However, the PLM must be on the same phase of the electrical service as the fan linc. Or at least 1, with the others using RF.

I ditched Insteon last month after my garage door relay stopped working. It was 4 years old so I cannot complaint too much. However the PLM lasted about 2 years before I had to replaced it.

Others have had issues with Insteon technology.

Im trying to find a way to control my ceiling fan and lights from vera.

Know of anything else the works?

It is on my to-do list but I intend on placing just a z-wave on-off switch on my 4 ceiling fans. The idea is when we are either in Away or Vacation mode, all 4 fans will be turned off. They only need to run in Home and Night mode. In Night mode, I intend to turn off the fans in the Office and Den. The Living Room fan can run 24-7 since it circulates stratified air in the cathedral ceilings, but, if we are not home, no harm turning it off. The one in the bedroom can be turned off in Home mode.

If you search this forum, you will see a few ways to control fans, including installing relays and other home-made ways of control.

Thanks! Just wish there were one like the insteon that were zwave just hide under canopy.

I always like to have manual switches on the wall so guest can feel normal and have a backup option when z-wave is down or somthing.
