Iphone software

I just order Vera today with the schlage link lock. The question I have is where do I get the link for the iphone software and does vera have to be conected to sign up to use Findvera.com.
Thanks Mike

IN order to activate and use the findvera.com service you’ll need to connect your vera to the internet.
The actual iphone app it’s an browser app and can be accessed directly: http://local.findvera.com:3451/iphone if you’re connected behind vera’s network, else replace local.findvera.com with you vera’s ip.
We’ve also started developing an native iphone app, but it will be ready in a few weeks.

With the new iPhone OS 3.0 the link does not show the iPhone UI any more.

After we have an stable release of Luup version we’ll release also an native iPhone application for controlling Vera.
We don’t have an iPhone OS 3.0 to test on it yet ( but if someone has a spare one it could send it to us ;D ), you should check in your iphone browser options that JavaScript is enabled.

Has anybody yet tested OS 3.0 with Vera? I’m thinking of updating my itouch but don’t want to lose my main Vera remote…

I did. See attachement. :frowning:

It seems that logging directly to your box using http://<vera_local_ip>:3451/iphone doesn’t work on some safari browsers, but if you enable the findvera.com service and login through http://findvera.com/iphone should work.
If someone has this OS3.0 version please confirm/infirm this. Thanks.

I just upgraded my iPod touch to 3.0 and it does talk to Vera properly through findvera.com/iphone. . . . The camera also works fine. I don’t know how well it would work over a phone link. . .

I imagine you guys will have to release the native app through the apple appstore when its available… correct? This could also be some good advertising for you…

We’ll try also to make API’s for other softwares that are on the market, like the zwave commander and others.

I work with the author of Z-Wave commander and if I can brag a little bit, I’m proud to say that I got him to develop for z-wave late last year. Anyway I digress.

I sat down with him today to shoot the breeze and he mentioned his overall stance on making Z-wave Commander and Vera. He’s generally not interested in rewriting his app to support Vera when all MiCasa has to do is just get the Vera to be able to accept his TCP socket commands through his “simple” API.

And while I admit, a UPnP remote implementation is very intriguing, my overall experience with UPnP has been inconsistent. TCP socket connections are tried and true and I feel there is room for both.

MiCasa has already blended in this philosophy with IP cameras, why not remotes, and maybe someday even my IP thermostat.

And I’m not just biased by my friendship with the developer of Zwave Commander, his software is demoed at Leviton and he has even been given free Vizia stuff which he passed on to me ;D

He has even told me that other Zwave control solutions have gotten his API implemented in a day.

I hope MiCasa can make room for both, or at least throw us a bone with this one until UPnP matures; since I really do support MiCasa’s vision

I have to say that it is by far the most elegant solution that I’ve found on a portable device to control lights. It would be great to be able to incorporate vera and the scenes and other devices that vera can control.

I picked up the vera for the same reason I’d like to get a better understanding of the units capabilities and recommend it to installers.

I am using Melloware’s X-10 commander (actualy the same as the Z-wave commander) and I must say this does a realy great job!
I think it would be THE missing add-on to the Vera.

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the kind words about ZWave Commander. I understand Micasa’s direction with UPNP control points and LUUP but that just does not fit in with my simple TCP Socket protocol that allows multiple vendors to attach their Zwave solution to my iPod Client without the iPhone having to have any intelligence built in. I have sent Micasa both my server side source code for them to look at as well as an example TCP conversation between the iPhone and the Server so they could easily add a TCP socket lisenter to their product that does the same thing my Windows client does.

I am adding Thermostat control to the UI in the next release, but as you can see from my UI I like to Keep It Simple Stupid (KISS) and I find that many users have been very satisifed with it. Sure it won’t control your Schlage lock but it does 95% of what most users want to do from their iPhone.

I have two other vendors that have already implemented my API to their back end so they can connect directly to their hardware with no PC running. I apologize for posting a competitors link but this company implemented my API in their hardware in 1 day.

I really hope MicasaVerde considers implementing the TCP backend for Zwave Commander because I think it will benefit everyone!!

Just added thermostat support to the latest version in the AppStore…

Hey CJ,

Any update on the native app development?
