IP camera

Hi,

I have 4 Elro c800ip camera’s at home. Yesterday I have upgraded the firmware with the firmware of the Trendnet TV-IP100 camera.
I want to connect them with my Vera to view them remotely.
I there someone that was able to configure the Vera with these camera’s.
In this new firmware it is possible to view the picture thru a webaddress (//ipaddress/tvaview.htm).
Is it possible to call this webpage in Vera?

Thanks,

Hans

i haven’t messed with them lately, but i have two trendnet tv-ip 110w’s that i was never able to get to work with vera.

Pretty much ANY camera that has a static JPG image link will work.

I have a very old hawking HNC-300 and this has it. One camera that is very popular that doesn’t have it is the Linksys WVC54GC. THe newer linksys/cisco cameras all have this. If you can find a URL in your cam that displays a JPG image, it will work in Vera. Let me know if you have trouble and I can try and assist. I’ve added tons of camera’s to Vera

Hi,

The settings available I have attached in a jpg file.
Can I something with this?

Rg,

Hans

i’ll try to remember to test mine again as well.

Look in the manual for the camera, most likely that HTML page is calling this URL to display
You may be able to find this URL out by viewing the SOURCE of the HTML page you mention, or look in the manual for this camera and look for a URL that displays a JPG Snapshot or Static JPG image

What cameras would you recommend?

I like the new Linksys WVC80N cams for price and stability and they can do mobile streaming to your cell phone via RTSP. We did a review on them recently at our website and they can be found for just over $100 online or at your local best buy

What about any exterior cameras?

I used these outside but protect them from moisture by mounting them under overhangs, etc. Pointing them out a window also works well. You can also do a DIY enclosure using those inexpensive rubbermaid containers. A little silicone sealer and proper mounting you can make a super cheap outdoor enclosure.

You can also get a properly made enclosure for outdoor use, but in most cases, these are $200-$500 or more.

I just ordered a Vera along with a few of these Linksys cameras based on your recommendation.

Do I need to install anything on my PC or can I simply plug them in and Vera will find them?

My goal is to be able to place these all over the house and be able to view them online or on my iPhone.

Also, can you hear audio online or on your phone?

Sorry, I am a newb here.

Thanks.

THe Linksys WVC80N CD wizard will try and automatically setup the camera on your LAN, set it wireless, set a static LAN IP, forward port 1024 or higher depending on how many cams you have and finally, give you a TZO domain name for all this (or multiple domains if you want one for each cam)

Once it does this, you should be able to use your domain name and port to reach each cam, from the inside and outside of your network. it all depends if your router can support loopback and re-routing domains back on the inside network

I have several of these cams, and in Vera I have to add them each manually, it just takes a few seconds.
I can’t hear audio on my phone, just live video via RTSP. Never really cared much about audio unless Im on my laptop and using IE I can hear and see using the Linksys viewer.

In the IP address field, use---->Domainname:port (example: Name.LinksysCam.com:1024
In the PATH field, use----> img/snapshot.cgi
and setup a username and PW for each cam and enter those in, thats it!

You MAY need to mess with the Plugin for the generic IP camera in Vera, I had to UNINSTALL mine and REINSTALL it to add more cams, then click the INSTALL link under the plugin to add more camera’s. I have all of them working fine in vera, archiving snapshots 2x per hour, linked to motion detectors and door/window sensors, certain cameras will automatically take snapshots every few seconds and archive them at FindVera. Very cool stuff, and sure does beat the limitations of Hawking and Schlage having to use “their cameras”.

Thanks for your help. I was under the impression, I could:

  • Plug in Vera
  • Plug in Cameras
  • Vera would find cameras
  • I log in to findvera.com from any browser (anywhere) or my phone and view cameras

I guess this stuff will be going back once it gets here.

Is there any set up out there that will let me do what I explained above? Pretty much true plun and play.

I hope these don’t have all those reboot and disconnect issues the prevous model is known for…

Ive had both WVC54GCA, WVC210 and now WVC80N’s. I never had issues with ANY of the WVC54GCA. There was a bug when the cam is on a DHCP address, but setting a Static LAN IP on them works fine. I also reduce the stress on the cam and use a non-encrypted wireless network, but have Mac filtration on so only my cams can connect to this wireless AP

The WVC80N cams are much better low light and they also have a Samba client in there to write AVI’s to a NAS drive, directy from the cam. I take snapshots every 50 seconds from all my cams, aggregate them on a single HTML page, often leaving the streaming MPEG HTML page up so I can view all cam video at once and also they give up snapshots to Vera when an event is triggered and I want snapshots.

We did an extensive review on these new Linksys cams at HTTP://WWW.MyHomeServer.com
and also compare snapshots from the older cams to the new ones

Thanks to my dutch supplier I have got it to work.
It is very simple (when you know it)

Fill in the following items:

Path: IMAGE.JPG
IP: 123.123.123.123
Username: dceadmin (or your own username)
Password: dcepass (or your own password)
URL: IMAGE.JPG

Save and take a look.
I hope someone can use this.

Rg,

Hans

For true plug and play you need to buy directly from MCV - http://shop.micasaverde.com, where all the cameras are sold pre-configured specifically for your Vera.
